Chapter 1457

    ?Chapter 1457:

Bryan said, “Alright, here’s the deal—two pieces of candy as a reward, and two more for being brave and not shedding a tear. Now, think about it. What’s two plus two? You tell me.”

He turned the key, and the engine hummed to life as he merged into the flow of traffic. His eyes scanned for the nearest supermarket along the way.

Moments ago, Gabri had boldly dered that she deserved four pieces of candy. But now, with a furrowed brow and her fingers spread wide, she counted slowly. “Two plus two… Four!”

Bryan tilted his head, maintaining a serious tone. “It’s three. Where’d youe up with four?”

Gabri’s wide, puzzled eyes stared at Bryan, disbelief written all over her face. Determined, she lowered her gaze and began counting on her small fingers again. Slowly, she reached four.

“You’re just a kid. You’ll learn how to count properly once you start school,” Bryan said, brushing aside her perfectly urate answer without a second thought.

Eileen’s lips twitched in a barely contained smile as she turned to stare out the window. She now believed that kids, no matter how clever, could never truly outwit their parents.

A hint of worry crossed Eileen’s mind. If Bryan kept teaching Gabri like this, how would she manage when real math problems came her way?

“Dad, what’s five plus six?” Gabri asked eagerly, wiggling out of her seatbelt to lean closer toward Bryan.

    “Eleven,” Bryan answered easily.

“And what’s three plus two?” Gabri asked.

    “Five,” Bryan replied.

    “Two plus two?” Gabri asked.

    “Three,” Bryan answered.

Gabri’s little scheme hadn’t worked, but her eyes sparkled with excitement. “Dad, you’re really good at this!”

Bryan soaked in her admiration without the slightest trace of guilt.

“You’ll be just as good when you grow up,” he said.

    “Really?” Gabri asked.

“Of course! If you put in the effort and study hard, you’ll surpass me,” Bryan replied encouragingly.

After hearing that, Gabri happily bought three pieces of candy before they headed home.

Eileen remained unconvinced. If Gabri could correctly add four ones but still say that two plus two equals three, could she really surpass Bryan in math in the future?

Honestly, she would be content if Gabri turned out to have average intelligence for now.

As shameful as Bryan’s little tricks were, Gabri eagerly fell for them. Eileen decided it was time for a serious talk with Bryan. “One day, Gabri will grow up and realize you’ve been fooling her all along. This isn’t right.”

“I’m teaching her a lesson, disguised as fun. When she grows up and figures out what I’ve done, she’ll be wiser in how she deals with people,” Bryan replied.
