Chapter 1413

    ?Chapter 1413:

Before Eileen could fully process this information, Bryan added, “Raymond’s on his way to take you home. Is that alright?”

Eileen blinked, frowning slightly. “Isn’t that a bit over the top? I could just take a taxi. Besides, doesn’t thepany have spare cars? I can also drive myself home.”

In truth, Eileen had an ulterior motive. She had been craving some desserts from a nearby shop for days.

Bryan, ever the health-conscious one, had warned her that too much cream could affect the baby in her belly, only allowing her to indulge twice a month.

But she was itching for a sweet treat now, and today seemed like the perfect chance for her to get it.

“It’s no trouble at all,” Bryan said firmly. “And if I find out you didn’t listen…”

Resigned, Eileen acquiesced to Raymond’s chauffeur services. Once settled in Raymond’s car, Eileen fastened her seatbelt and pulled up the dessert shop’s address on her phone. Before she could voice her request, Raymond spoke, his voice low and cautious. “Mr. Dawson installed a tracker in the car.” Even the slightest detour would alert Bryan immediately.

Eileen’s fingers stilled on her phone as she turned to Raymond, her mind whirring. “Then I can just get out of the car now. You can drive to my home and report backter.”

Raymond hesitated and then leaned in conspiratorially. “Actually, the tracker’s just a small device. We could remove it, ce it in a cab headed to your house, and then reattach it to the car after we get back.”

A satisfied smile spread across Eileen’s face. “Clever thinking. Go ahead. I’ll ce the order now to save time and minimize any inconvenience for you.”

With a resigned sigh, Raymond removed the tracker and hailed a cab.

He wasn’t naturally cunning, but always caught between Bryan’s demands and Eileen’s determination, he had learned to do these kinds of things.

When Eileen set her mind on something, resistance was futile. Better to indulge her pastry craving than risk greater trouble. After all, she wasn’t meeting another man in secret—surely this small matter was not something unforgivable.

Thirty minutester, Eileen and Raymond retrieved the coveted desserts. Another half hour passed before they were safely home, with the tracker reattached.

After Raymond finished reinstalling the tracker, he gently reminded Eileen about the dessert wrappers. “Don’t forget to throw away the wrappers after you eat.”

“You can throw them away for me,” Eileen responded, quickly peeling away the outeryers of packaging and handing them to Raymond.

Back at home, Eileen joined Ruby and Gabri at the living room coffee table, and they all enjoyed the delicious desserts together.

“Mommy, this is so sweet!” Gabri eximed, her mouth smeared with cream and her tummy happily full. She nced at another slice of cake and added, “But maybe too much isn’t good for you and the baby inside you.”

Eileen had actually bought that extra piece of cake on purpose. She was thinking of staying home from work tomorrow and enjoying it while Bryan was out.

She softly patted her belly and said to Gabri, “It’s okay to have a little treat. The baby wants to try it too! If the baby doesn’t get a taste, they might cry and cry until they be a grumpy, frowning baby. You wouldn’t want a grumpy little brother or sister, would you?”
