?Chapter 1400:
No sooner had she settled into her seat than a steaming cup of milk materialized in her hand.
Bryan had brought it for her. He signaled to a waiter and ordered a cup of coffee for himself.
Eileen watched with envy as the waiter prepared Bryan’s coffee. She wasn’t usually a coffee drinker, but today, the scent of that rich, aromatic brew was strangely tempting.
“You can have a sip when we’re done here,” Bryan said, noticing her covetous stare. “But for now, stick to your milk.”
“So, is the person you arranged here?” Eileen asked.
Bryan nced at his watch. “She should be here any minute. We told her to arrive twenty minutes early, just to be safe.”
Twenty minutester, the show finally began.
A young woman in her early twenties, dressed casually in jeans and a T-shirt, settled into a seat by the window.
Ten minutester, a sleek ck Porsche Cayenne rolled to a stop outside the coffee shop.
Eileen drained her ss of milk and said in surprise, “That’s Colby’s car!”
The car door swung open, and a slender man emerged, dressed in ck trousers, a crisp white shirt, and a khaki vest. A pair of gold-rimmed sses concealed the emotions in his eyes.
He had a mask covering the lower half of his face, and he looked a lot thinner than Colby.
“That’s not Colby!” Eileen whispered, covering the earpiece that was rying the conversation between the man and the woman. “Colby” greeted the woman and took a seat opposite her. Eileen strained to get a better look at the scene unfolding downstairs. The woman and the fake Colby were there. She couldn’t see clearly from her current position, so she stood up, knowing they couldn’t spot her from below.

“Mr. Deleon,” the woman began, “I’ve seen your photos, but you look different in person.”
She had done her research before this meeting, poring over countless images of Colby.
“Colby” nodded slightly. “I apologize,” he said, his voice raspy. “I’ve been through a lot recently, and it has taken a toll on me.”
Was he implying that the stress of his wife’s betrayal and the loss of their child had caused his dramatic weight loss?
It was a usible excuse, but Eileen wasn’t buying it.
“Would you mind taking off your mask?” the woman said. “We are on a date, after all.”
“Certainly.”
“Colby” removed his mask, revealing faint scars along his jawline and an unsettlingly stiff expression.
He shared a few simr features with Colby, but overall, he looked like apletely different man.
“I have to admit,” the woman began, a hint of hesitation in her voice, “you look nothing like your pictures. It’s almost as if you’re someone else entirely.”
“Colby” remained calm, casually sping his hands together. “I’ve shed quite a bit of weight,” he exined with a shrug. “It’s not unusual for a person’s appearance to change drastically after a weight loss. Just look up weight loss journeys online; those people lookpletely different afterward.”
Leaning back with a raised eyebrow, he continued, “Besides, I’m sitting right here in front of you. How could I possibly be an imposter? Let’s focus on the reason we’re here and try to get to know each other.”
