Chapter 1173

    ?Chapter 1173:

Eileen rolled her eyes, her tone sharp as she said, “How can you just pretend nothing ever happened? Can you turn back the clock more than a decade and skip college, or somehow make me forget everything I know now?”

Refusing the water Bryan offered, she turned her face away in defiance.

“Gabriele, look, Mommy’s upset,” Bryan said, signaling to Gabri. Right away, Gabri lifted her tiny hands, gently turning Eileen’s face back. “Mommy, you’ll feel better if you drink more water,” she said sweetly.

In the morning, Eileen had exined to Gabri that she was in the hospital because she wasn’t feeling well, and that drinking more water would help her get better. Now, Gabri was just parroting Eileen’s own words back to her, even though Eileen wasn’t actually sick.

Unable to resist Gabri’s hopeful gaze, Eileen finally gave in. She grabbed Bryan’s wrist, drank the water, and theny back down with Gabri nestled in her arms.

“I haven’t seen her in years. It’s irrelevant whether she was my professor back then or not. Don’t pay any attention to the nonsense Jacob said,” Bryan said, sitting down beside Eileen and resting his hand on her slim waist. “By the way, I haven’t even told you about Jacob chasing after the school beauty.”

Even though Eileen didn’t particrly care, Bryan went on about Jacob’splicated efforts to win over the school beauty. He continued, sharing all sorts of stories from their college days, bringing up Vivian at one point. However, Presley’s name never came up again.

While Eileen was still lost in her thoughts, Bryan handed her the phone and said, “Hold Gabri for the injection. You can take a break.”

Gabri had dozed off again, and Eileen had been lying in bed so long that her body ached.

Eileen finally got up, grabbed her phone, and stretched out on the sofa. As she checked her messages, she noticed one from Phoebe that hade shortly after Phoebe had left the hospital.

“I’ve gotten the confessions you need. It’s just a few rumors—nothing serious.”

Eileen typed back a quick “OK.” After a moment’s thought, she told Phoebe about the matter of Jacob pursuing the school beauty back in his university days. She didn’t particrly want to dig into the past, but really, this was all Jacob’s fault, wasn’t it?

Besides, ording to Bryan, the school beauty showed up at every reunion and still kept in touch with Jacob.

Eileen thought Phoebe had been so good to her; it wouldn’t feel right to keep this from her.

It wasn’t that Jacob couldn’t be trusted, but with how absentminded he could be, who was to say the school beauty wouldn’t try to take advantage of him?

Bryan had been quietly watching Eileen this whole time. When he saw her busy with her phone, he smiled.

The first snowfall of the season arrived in Onnd, painting thendscape in white. The snow came down in thick, heavy kes.

Bailee had nned to visit Gabri in the hospital in the morning after hearing the news, but when she was ready to go, she found her carpletely covered by a thick nket of snow.

Not being very confident in her driving skills, especially in bad weather, Bailee decided against going to the hospital. She sent a message to Eileen and chose to wait until the snow cleared from the roads.
