Chapter 1142

    ?Chapter 1142:

“Forget about it. I had an online discussion about it with Harlem this afternoon. We’ll be signing the contract tomorrow.” With that, Eileen turned and began to walk away.

Trenton hurried to catch up with Eileen and said, “Ms. Curtis, this isn’t the right way to handle things. We’ve negotiated with you before…”

After studying Trenton intently for a brief moment, Eileen abruptly asked, “Are you Mr. Quimby, the one who suddenly got cold feet about signing the contract with us?”

“Please don’t get the wrong idea, Ms. Curtis,” Trenton quickly responded, trying to exin himself. “For a project worth tens of millions, careful thought is crucial. But rest assured, it’s not what you think.”

Before he could borate further, Eileen interjected coldly, “It’s just a project worth millions. We don’t press anyone. The Ferguson Group values proactive coboration. If you’re unable to make a decision, we won’t insist. Goodbye.”

With a swish of her dress, Eileen left Trenton behind and gracefully returned to Benjamin’s side. Benjamin nced at her and asked, “Mr. Quimby followed you out. Did you two have a conversation?”

“Don’t you see what he’s after?” Eileen replied, adjusting her long hair. “We should never demean ourselves, regardless of the obstacles we face.”

Even if Trenton wanted to coborate with them again, they would only engage with him if he approached them of his own ord and was willing to sign the project.

“I’m not in a position to do that. If I identally offend someone important and it costs thepany, I’m not sure I could handle the fallout,” Benjamin admitted, leaning against a pir with one hand in his pocket, a bitter smile ying on his lips.

Momentarily taken aback, Eileen turned to face him. “I didn’t consider your perspective. If you encounter difficulties, let us know, and we will help you handle it.”

After all, he wasn’t the boss. Even if he could tough it out, their business partners might not take him seriously. He wouldn’t be able to rest easy knowing he might have harmed thepany.

Eileen hadn’t considered his predicament before.

“I do need to talk to you about something,” Benjamin said, his tone resolute.

“I want to…” Eileen was stunned. “Why?”

Benjamin sighed, gathering his thoughts. “It’splicated. I’m in my early thirties now, and my family has been pressuring me to get married. With the way things run here, I barely have any personal time. Now that thepany is stable, there’s not much reason for me to stick around only to let you and Julio ck off.”

“I understand if you are resigning to focus on marriage and family, but I can’t ept that you think there is…”

“There’s no reason for you to stay in thepany.” Eileen had no doubts about Benjamin’s contributions to thepany. “We three founded the Ferguson Group together. While Julio and I managed the external affairs, you handled the internal operations as a senior executive.” Without Benjamin’s skillful management of internal matters, how could they have confidently tackled everything else?

“I’m not here for praise,” Benjamin said. “No, I’m not changing my decision to resign.”

Eileen sighed, her gaze drifting to the nearby clusters of people murmuring among themselves, lost in her thoughts. She came from modest beginnings. Had she not married Bryan, attending such an event would have been beyond her reach. Despite her talents, she was not part of the elite. Even if her education agency expanded sessfully, it couldn’t hold a candle to a listed enterprise like the EB Group.
