    “Could it be you’re overthinking this?” Jarred asked, at a loss for how to convince Ste.


    Ste was incredibly stubborn. Despite Bryan and Eileen having been away for a long time and the many events that had unfolded, she still harbored doubts about whether Gabri was Bryan’s daughter. The striking resemnce between Gabri and Eileen was undeniable, particrly in their facial features. If there was any simrity between Gabri and Bryan, it was in the shape of their faces.


    Jarred had tried to convince Ste to let the matter go several times, but Ste refused to listen to him. “I’ve managed the Dawson family affairs for many years. I cannot afford such a colossal error,” Ste asserted. “When Bryan arrives tomorrow, you must help me convince him to take a paternity test with Gabri.”


    With no other options, Jarred reluctantly agreed.


    The following morning, shortly after Ste finished her breakfast, Bryan arrived at the Dawson Mansion. He wasn’t alone; Eileen and Gabri apanied him. The three exited the car and walked toward the mansion together. Ste, who had risen to greet Bryan, promptly sat back down upon noticing Eileen’s presence.


    Gabri nced around, her eyes wide with curiosity upon noticing Ste’s movement.


    “Gabri, that’s your great-grandmother,” Eileen said after acknowledging Ste. She then crouched down, nudged Gabri forward, and said, “Go and say hello to her.”


    Ste offered a smile and stood up. “Did you return yesterday?” She intentionally overlooked Gabri. Despite her young age, Gabri picked up on this and, after a brief step forward, retreated back into Eileen’s embrace.


    Eileen stood up with Gabri in her arms and chose to remain silent.

    Bryan replied in a deep tone. He took Gabri from Eileen and said, “We just got back, and Gabri is still adjusting. We woke up quite early today, so Eileen and I will take her upstairs to rest first.”


    As Ste was about to say something, Bryan turned away with a frown. Bryan’s room upstairs was bathed in sunlight, creating a warm atmosphere.


    Although Gabri had been sleepy during the journey here, the fresh environment invigorated her. She onlyy in bed for ten minutes before scampering around the room.


    “Does Ste want to talk to you about something?” Eileen asked, propping her head with one hand. Her long ck hair cascaded down her neck as she watched Bryan intently while he sat on the bed.


    Although they had just arrived back in Onnd and Eileen thought they should visit Ste even if she didn’t request it, when Eileen had entered the mansion, she had noticed that Ste’s greetingcked the warmth she had anticipated. In fact, Ste had seemed somewhat displeased. Being an adult, Eileen was attuned to the subtle undertones of unspoken emotions.


    Bryan, who had been resting with his eyes closed, suddenly opened his eyes at Eileen’s observation and exined, “Well, we’ve just returned to Onnd, so she expects us to visit her.”


    “Are you sure she meant us?” Eileen gestured to herself and Gabri. “Maybe she only wants to see you.”


    Before Bryan could respond, a knock at the door interrupted their conversation.
