?Chapter 1126:
Le and Ruth sat side by side on the sofa, exchanging awkward smiles that lingered for an ufortable stretch of time. The silence between them was palpable as they avoided eye contact and conversation.
Bailee and Huey clung to Gabri, yet Gabri felt they were a bit unfamiliar, having not seen them for some time. She slipped and hurried around the room to avoid them. Upstairs, Eileen and Bryan were packing their luggage. Aftering back down, they both felt resigned by the awkward atmosphere in the room.
“Grandma, Mom, didn’t you two chat well on the phone? Why do you seem like strangers now?” Eileen said, seated between Le and Ruby. She put their hands together. “Let’s talk, or it’ll just be more awkward.”
Ruby, typically shy, had only managed a polite greeting to Le earlier. Urged by Eileen, she feltpelled to initiate further conversation. “You know I’ve been before?” she asked Le.
Le responded promptly, “Yes, I am aware. I’m currently dealing with a heart condition myself.”
“Oh, I also struggle with heart issues,” Ruby confessed, cing a hand over her chest. “Last check-up, my doctor was concerned about my slow heart rate.”
“Slow heart rate can be serious,” Le cautioned. “My doctor in Alverton mentioned it.”
Caught between the discussion of ailments, Eileen didn’t know what to say. Why must they chat about such topics? She turned and looked desperately for support. Bailee returned a sympathetic nce but continued ying with Gabri. In the dining room, Bryan chuckled at the scene while preparing a nutritious meal for Gabri.

He picked up a carrot and posed a question to Ruby and Le. “The doctor rmended more carrots for kids. What should we make with them?”
“Let’s make soup,” Ruby suggested without hesitation. Le nodded and said, “Making soup would soften the carrots, making it easier for Gabri to digest.”
Ruby stood up decisively, “I’ll handle dinner tonight. You’ve been working nonstop, Bryan.”
Le said, “Let me assist you.” She then followed Ruby to the kitchen. “It’s clear that Gabri is a bright child. You’ve cared for her wonderfully.”
Leaning against the sofa, Bryan nced at the relieved Eileen and said, “They need a lighter topic to discuss. It’s just going to get more awkward the more they talk.”
Previously, the conversation had steered towards illness, and the awkwardness would return once the topic was over. Yet, when the discussion shifted to Gabri, the conversation flowed effortlessly.
Eileen, lifting her gaze to look at Bryan, asked, “How are you always so thoughtful?”
“People say partnersplement each other, you know,” Bryan replied. He affectionately pinched Eileen’s cheek. “Let’s return to the Dawson Mansion tomorrow.”
Just after his return to Onnd, Ste had urgently called him, asking him to go back tonight. Engrossed in unpacking, he had missed Ste’s intention to let him go back alone. Ste hadn’t wanted him to visit her with Eileen.
“Why didn’t you mention it earlier? My grandmother has brought plenty of unique items, including a special one for your grandmother. Let’s head back early tomorrow,” Eileen said.
“Okay,” Bryan agreed. Just as he began to smile, he felt a small hand grip his thigh. Gabri looked at him with wide eyes and puffed cheeks, crying out, “Dad, help! Aunt Bailee is crazy.”
