?Chapter 1114:
In the evening, Marisa sent Eileen the evidence rted to her past disappearance. Thirty years ago, Kam had conspired with her first love to abduct Eileen. Over the years, this man had repeatedly extorted money from Kam. The evidence included transaction records and photographs of the two meeting over the past few years.
“It took thirty years to gather this evidence?” Eileen, leaning back on the sofa, puzzled over the findings. Once a suspect was identified, the investigation would broaden to include individuals the suspect had been in contact with. It was crucial to investigate who the suspect hadmunicated with.
“So how did Kam’s first love surface sote in the investigation?” Eileen wondered aloud.
“Since we can’t uncover every detail, why not follow the current leads? The person behind this will reveal themselves eventually.” Bryan nced at the evidence. “The evidence implicating Kam in conspiring to kidnap you and hiring someone to kill Jaliyah is undeniable. Anyone looking at it would believe she’s the culprit.”
“You’re suggesting Kam might not be the actual culprit?” Eileen rested in Bryan’s embrace.
“There are only two possibilities,” Bryan said as he ced his hand on her waist. “If Kam were behind your disappearance, it would have been challenging for you to return.”
The journey back to the Vazquez family should have been fraught with obstacles. Yet since reestablishing contact, Kam had done nothing to keep Eileen from returning.
Bryan continued, “Besides, didn’t you mention that Kam was unaware you were Keith’s daughter until after your return?” This raised doubts about whether it was indeed Kam who had colluded with her first love to orchestrate Eileen’s disappearance thirty years ago.
“Secondly, if Kam was indeed capable of hiring someone to kill her daughter-inw, it wouldn’t make sense for you to have simply disappeared at that time; you would have been killed,” Bryan said.
If Kam could go so far as to murder the daughter-inw who had lived with her for many years and even bore her a granddaughter, then certainly she wouldn’t hesitate to kill her husband’s illegitimate daughter.
Eileen gazed at him with admiration. “Bryan, how do you manage to be so incredible?”
She noticed him stiffen momentarily before he couldn’t suppress a smile. He said, “You haven’t pieced it all together because you’re too close to the situation.”
“No,” Eileen replied, her eyes sparkling. “It’s really you who’s incredible. Even if I weren’t personally involved, I couldn’t have analyzed it as thoroughly as you have.”
“Why are youplimenting me like this? What are you trying to do here?” Bryan asked with a hint of happiness.
Eileen chuckled softly and yfully tugged at his cor with her fingers.
Dalores woke up.
When she opened her eyes at three in the morning, she was startled to see Julio resting against the bed. The surprise caused her to catch her breath. Did he already know about Emerson? Would he take Emerson away?
A flurry of troubling thoughts invaded her mind. Dalores swallowed hard and carefully sat up. She gently pulled her hand from Julio’s, flung back the quilt, and climbed out of bed. She dashed out of the room without even putting on her shoes.
It wasn’t until she was outside the ward that she allowed herself to breathe freely. Her mind was focused solely on Emerson. Driven by instinct, she hurried to the ward on her right. Inside, she immediately spotted Emerson asleep. The caregiver was sleeping. Dalores approached Emerson’s bed, scooped him into her arms, and left.
