?Chapter 1043:
“Eileen, did you have lunch with Jaliyah today?” Le asked on the phone.
“Yeah, kind of. What’s wrong?” Eileen replied.
“The Aston family just told me that Jaliyah had an abortion after having lunch with you. The doctor said she took abortion pills,” Le exined.
The implication was clear—they believed that Eileen had slipped the pills into Jaliyah’s food during lunch.
Bryan couldn’t make out Le’s words during the phone call. All he noticed was that Eileen seemed stunned after answering and then turned to him with a look of mixed emotions.
Rising from his seat, Bryan walked around the desk to stand beside Eileen. As soon as Eileen ended the call, he asked with concern, “What’s going on?”
“I feel so wronged,” Eileen murmured, hugging him. She pressed her forehead against his chest and continued, “Jaliyah invited me to lunch, but now she’s iming she had a miscarriage. The Aston family has called Grandma, trying to me me for it.”
Thoughpletely innocent, she struggled to exin the situation clearly. Frustration bubbled up inside her, and she felt an intense urge tosh out at someone.
Bryan leaned back against the desk and gave her a reassuring pat on the back.
“I’ll get someone on it and find out what’s really happening,” he said.
Eileen felt like she had leaped from the frying pan into the fire. She had nned to leave Alverton in a few days, but now her departure was on hold.
What depressed her further was that the more she tried to keep her rtionship with Keith under wraps, the more likely it seemed that it would be exposed given the current chaos.
???????? ?????????????? ???? ??????????????????.??????
In the afternoon, Eileen and Bryan returned to the Vazquez Mansion. By the time they arrived, the Aston family’s car was already waiting at the gate.
In the living room, Le upied the main seat, while Gabri sat beside her, clutching a small toy in her hand. With her big, dark eyes wide open, she stared curiously at Kam.
Perhaps because of Kam’s stern appearance, Gabri didn’t dare to speak.
Spotting Eileen and Bryan, Gabri quickly leaped off her chair and dashed toward them, calling out, “Mom, Dad!”
She wrapped her arms around Eileen’s legs and cast a wary nce back at Kam. It was clear that she was a bit frightened.
Eileen lifted Gabri and spoke soothingly to her. After sending her off with a servant to y, Eileen proceeded into the living room.
Harrell stood behind Kam, his gaze burning with anger. It was as if his eyes could pierce through Eileen with the intensity of his fury.
“Le, Eileen caused the death of my daughter-inw’s son! I can’t just let it go!” Kam said aggressively.
Le snorted dismissively and replied, “You’re telling me that Eileen caused your daughter-inw to miscarry. Why should I believe you? You need to provide solid evidence.”
“I’ll get you any evidence you need!” Harrell snapped angrily. “When Jaliyah had lunch with Eileen today, Eileen didn’t touch her food at all. The food must have been drugged; that’s why Eileen didn’t eat anything. Our family has contacted the restaurant, and if you want proof, I’ll provide it.”
Jaliyah hadn’t been pregnant in the first ce, and she would have had a miscarriage report prepared by now. After all, she had to keep up the pretense to the very end.
