Chapter 975

    ?Chapter 975:

“Mom, what’s wrong?” Jaliyah Diaz, who was married to the Aston family’s son, asked. She noticed Kam staring and grew curious.

Kam snapped out of her daze and shook her head. “It’s nothing.”

Jaliyah wasn’t from a prestigious family; they were new money. She had been spoiled her whole life and didn’t really fit in at these kinds of events.

Kam had kept Eileen’s situation a secret from Jaliyah, afraid Jaliyah would cause a scene and embarrass the Aston family.

But then, to Kam’s surprise, Jaliyah looked at Eileen and said, “That must be the Vazquez family’s daughter. She’s got ss, looking exactly like she is from a wealthy family.”

Kam’s voice carried a hint of disbelief as she remarked, “You’ve only met a handful of wealthy people, so how can you be so sure she’s rich just by looking at her?”

She had already been simmering with discontent because of Eileen, and now, unable to contain her frustration, she turned it toward Jaliyah.

Jaliyah, sensing Kam’s displeasure, nced at her and asked, “What do you mean?”

“I’m not upset with you,” Kam replied, though her annoyance was evident. She knew this wasn’t the time or ce to delve into Eileen’s rtionship with Keith. Thest thing she wanted was for Jaliyah to act rashly and bring shame upon the Aston family.

But she couldn’t help but caution Jaliyah, “Just keep your distance from Eileen. We’ll talk more when we get home.” With that, Kam turned and seamlessly rejoined the circle of elitedies.

Jaliyah frowned slightly, picking up on Kam’s dislike for Eileen. But she shrugged it off with a nonchnt wave of her shoulders.

Meanwhile, Eileen struggled with her ill-fitting high heels, and after walking for a bit, her heels had turned red. Her awkward gait didn’t escape Bryan’s notice. He gently steered her to a quiet corner, away from the curious gazes of those eager to greet him.

Crouching before Eileen, he gently removed her shoes, his fingers delicately examining the reddened skin.

“There are so many eyes on us, Bryan. You don’t need to do this,” Eileen protested softly, trying to free her ankle from his grasp. But Bryan’s grip was firm as he ced her foot on his knee and pulled out a Band-Aid from his pocket.

As whispers and sideways nces continued from those nearby, Eileen’s ears burned with embarrassment.

“Why do you have Band-Aids with you? Gabri isn’t even here.”

Gabri, their little whirlwind, had a knack for tripping over her own feet ever since she learned to walk. One time, she fell and scraped her knee so badly that blood soaked through her pants, whichter stuck to the wound.

The painful memory of carefully cleaning the wound with water and iodine and seeing Gabri’s tear-filled eyes lingered in both Eileen’s and Bryan’s minds. Ever since that day, Bryan had made it a habit to carry Band-Aids and cotton swabs with him.

Now, with the same gentle care, he cleaned Eileen’s heels before applying the Band-Aids. Without looking up, he asked, “Why wear shoes that don’t fit?”

“They fit just fine thest time. I don’t know what has changed,” Eileen muttered as she slid her feet back into the shoes. She tugged on Bryan’s wrist, urging him to sit beside her.
