Chapter 785

    ?Chapter 785:

If love was impossible, then let their rtionship end in mutual disdain, with no further contact.

Eileen understood Bryan’s words earlier about asking Conroy to reimburse the money.

In the evening, Conroy’s assistant arrived, knocked on the door, and delivered a spread of gourmet dishes, significantly morevish than what Eileen had ordered earlier.

“Ms. Curtis, Mr. Finch instructed me to set this up. He was informed that Mr. Dawson was expecting a guest, and due to a mix-up at the restaurant at noon, the dishes were sent to his ce by mistake. So, he arranged this meal for Mr. Dawson.”

Eileen knew the mention of a guest served as an excuse. Not only did it mask the earlier mistake, when several dishes had been delivered to the woman staying at Conroy’s ce, but it also facilitated the reimbursement.

Bryan was always thoughtful and meticulous in his nning for her. Eileen couldn’t help but smile. She directed the assistant and his staff to arrange all the dishes on the table. Just after Eileen had dismissed them, Bryan returned home.

Conroy’s people departed following a brief greeting with Bryan.

Bryan nced over at Eileen, who was standing by the door. He gave her a subtle wink as he greeted Conroy’s people.

Eileen chuckled as she turned and walked back into the vi. Bryan followed her inside, closing the door behind them. He quickly blocked her path and teased, “I’ve secured double what you lost. Are you pleased now?”

“Not exactly,” Eileen responded, gesturing towards the dining room. “It’s just too much food. How can the three of us possibly eat all this?”

“Then I’ll defer to your n. What should we do?” Bryan asked. Suddenly faced with the situation, Eileen didn’t know what to do. She simply didn’t want to waste any food.

“Is Kinsey workingte today?” Eileen inquired.

“They just started a meeting. It’s tost at least two hours,” Bryan informed her.

Two hours would mean their time off work would be around eight o’clock—not exactlyte by Bryan’s standards. But Bryan quickly understood what Eileen was implying and rified, “He’ll be home before dinner, though.”

“Then I’ll take some food over to Dalores,” Eileen said. The dishes were still in their takeaway containers. She packed several dishes randomly and headed to Kinsey’s vi. Theyout of the nearby vis was nearly identical. After two knocks, the door opened.

“Hello, I’m your neighbor. I had guestsing for dinner, but they had to cancelst minute. I’ve got plenty of food left. If it’s alright with you, I’d like to share some,” Eileen said, careful not to reveal her acquaintance with Dalores to the servant.

The servant scrutinized Eileen, and after a moment, deemed her harmless. “Thank you. Pleasee in for a cup of coffee. Thedy of the house is upstairs; I’ll ask her toe down.”

Eileen expressed her thanks and entered. Inside, the vi’s decor was entirely different, making it hard to believe that the structure was the same as the other vis.

She was invited to sit in the living room, and someone went to call Dalores down.

Within thirty seconds, Dalores hurried downstairs, cradling her baby.

“Eileen… Why are you here?” Dalores stopped herself before saying Eileen’s name aloud and nodded politely to her in front of the servant. She then sat down and said, “I heard you brought several dishes over. Thank you.”
