?Chapter 779:
“You can think about remarrying,” Eileen chimed in, dabbling her mouth with a napkin. “Wouldn’t it be better to spend your life with someone instead of living alone?”
Conroy frowned.
“I’ll manage my personal matters myself,” he said.
“You’re right,” Eileen replied, then turned to Bryan. “Mr. Dawson, you shouldn’t pry into someone else’s private matters.”
Her tone suggested she found Bryan’s prying slightly irritating, casting him in a meddlesome light.
Bryan acknowledged her point coolly, then stood up and lifted Gabri from her chair. “I was merely curious, Mr. Finch. No harm meant.”
“None taken,” Conroy replied stiffly, standing to escort Bryan out, shooting a few annoyed looks at Eileen when Bryan wasn’t looking.
Eileen disregarded him and left with Bryan. Back at home, she positioned herself in the chair by the floor-to-ceiling window, keeping watch over Conroy’s front door.
As darkness settled, she adjusted the reclining seat to maintain her vignce.
Around ten o’clock in the evening, the car door suddenly opened, and Bryan slipped in. Pressing a finger to Eileen’s lips, he set his phone in the holder, disying a live feed of their bedroom where Gabri was peacefully sleeping.
“What are you doing?” Eileen whispered.
“Gabri is asleep. I came to keep youpany.” Bryan extended his arm, wrapped it around her waist, and drew her close. “Has the person note out yet? She might stay the night.”

Eileen shifted slightly, amodating Bryan’s subtle movements. “Or she could be waiting for a quiet moment to leave.”
Eileen believed she would need to remain here for quite some time tonight.
“That makes sense. Let’s stay here and wait.” Bryan leaned in, kissed her forehead, and then draped a thin nket over her. The weather was cold, but they couldn’t run the heater because that would draw attention.
Eileen rushed to the car without grabbing a nket. Now, she cuddled closer to Bryan, draping her legs across hisp and pulling the nket tighter around them both. His body heat warmed her, and she soon fell asleep in his embrace.
In the car, the glow from the phone illuminated Bryan’s defined features as he nced at the sleeping Eileen. He adjusted the nket around her and kept busy on his phone, dealing with some work matters, asionally ncing at Gabri’s video feed.
Meanwhile, the streetmps outside shone directly on Conroy’s door, making anyone exiting visible. Therefore, Bryan didn’t pay much attention to the door.
It wasn’t until dawn that Bryan set his phone aside and nced at the vi across the street. Seeing no activity, he stepped out of the car. He went around to the passenger side and carefully carried the still-sleeping Eileen back inside.
Inside, it was much warmer. Eileen turned over and continued to sleep on the bed.
Gabri woke up. As soon as she began making noise, Bryan took her downstairs for a walk.
He continued to watch Conroy’s house, eventually noticing Conroy step outside.
