Chapter 776

    ?Chapter 776:

“I appreciate you calling to inform me of this,” Eileen said to Benjamin.

Benjamin let out a sigh of relief and spoke in a more casual tone, “You’re wee. I was just concerned that if you and Julio are at odds, I might find myself in a difficult position.”

“You should prioritize your own interests as you used to,” Eileen replied, hinting at something. “That’s who you truly are.”

After a long pause, Benjamin chuckled and said, “You’re right.”

Once the call ended, Eileen wondered whether she should inform Dalores about Julio’s presence in Alverton.

After reflecting deeply, Eileen realized she didn’t have any contact details and had to let the matter go. Since she hadmitted to not meddling in Dalores and Julio’s affairs, she resolved to staypletely out of it.

Before leaving work, Bryan made a point to inquire about Conroy’s evening ns and found out that he had no engagements for the night.

Thus, after Eileen and Bryan had returned home, freshened up, and changed, they made their way directly to Conroy’s ce with Gabri.

They rang the doorbell several times until the door swung open, revealing Conroy. He panicked when he saw them at his door.

“Oh, Mr. Dawson, what brings you here?”

“Sorry to bother you, Mr. Finch,” Bryan replied. “We’ve run out of sauce at home and thought we might join you for dinner.” He said this flimsy excuse with a serious expression. However, Conroy did not dare call him out on it.

“Oh, but I haven’t prepared anything fancy. I’m afraid I can’t host you properly right now. I’ll get changed, and maybe we can go out for dinner together.”

Standing next to Bryan, Eileen caught a glimpse of a shadow moving behind Conroy, indicating someone else was present in the vi.

“Eating out is quite costly, Mr. Dawson. Your daughter is still young, and it isn’t healthy for her to be fed from restaurants often. Let’s cook here at home,” Eileen said, looking up at Bryan. “Mr. Dawson, do you enjoy my cooking? If Mr. Finch doesn’t have anything prepared, I can cook with what’s avable. Would that be alright?”

Conroy was about to object, but Bryan quickly interjected.

“Certainly. It’s already an intrusion for us to drop by unannounced. I’m fine with whatever is avable.”

At the entrance of the vi, an uneasy silence fell. Conroy stood by the door, his fingers turning white as he clutched the doorknob, unable to release it. Should he allow them inside? But there was someone else at his home…

Yet turning them away wasn’t an option, especially not with Bryan present.

“If it’s too much trouble, we can leave, Mr. Finch,” Bryan offered, though he remained stationary.

Conroy shivered and quickly said, “No, it’s no trouble at all, Mr. Dawson.”

“Then thank you,” Bryan responded smoothly.

Conroy was at a loss for words. He hesitated for a moment and then stepped aside to let Eileen and Bryan enter. He retrieved disposable slippers from the closet for them. The noise from the living room ceased.

As Eileen and Bryan changed their shoes, Conroy went into the living room first, only returning after they finished.
