Chapter 647

    ?Chapter 647:

Bryan averted his eyes, returned the documents to their ce, and sat down, his face giving nothing away.

Ruby let out a soft sigh and said to Ste, “They’ve endured so much. As long as they find happiness, I’m okay with anything.”

“Yes,” Ste replied, ncing at Bryan. Even without anyone telling her, she could tell he was struggling, needing assistance even with his meals. The realization that Eileen was prepared to marry Bryan despite this brought immense joy to Ste’s heart.

Roderick kept quiet and ate sparingly, trying not to cause any embarrassment for Eileen.

Noticing Roderick’s difort, Eileen smiled reassuringly at him. “Treat this ce as if it were your own home. There’s no need for formality here. My wedding will have many guests, and you certainly don’t want to be hungry even after the banquet, do you?”

“Definitely not,” Roderick replied with a bashful smile. “It’s customary to eat heartily at a wedding as a gesture of goodwill toward the couple.”

“You can eat heartily now,” Eileen responded. “Enjoy your meal before it gets cold.”

Setting aside his fork, Roderick retrieved a card from his pocket. “Eileen, I have something for your wedding.”

His hand, bearing burn scars, held a pristine ck card, creating a stark contrast. Typically, a card of this color would carry a bnce of no less than half a million.

Eileen hesitated, refusing to take it. “It’s just a ceremony now, and I don’t need any gifts.”

“This is not about what you need,” Roderick said gently. “Marriage is a significant event. You kept it private before, and I was too financially strained to offer anything. But with your wedding now, I want to show my respect properly.”

Roderick was resolute. He pressed the bank card into Eileen’s palm, saying, “It’s not much, but it might help.”

Eileen frowned and replied, “Judie’s going to have the baby in a few months, and you’ll soon need to spend a lot of money. You also need to buy a house and settle in. Once you’re financially morefortable, you can give me the money then. No need to do that now.”

“It’s not about buying the house,” Roderick replied. “Judie feels that our mother isn’t up to taking care of things, so she’s opting for a high-end maternity center. It’s pricey, costing twenty to thirty thousand a month, but if it makes her happy, that’s what matters.” Roderick was aware that Judie had hoped to purchase a home before the baby arrived, but he chose to give the money to Eileen after weighing his options. Judie wouldn’t be home during the first month post-delivery. Besides, even with a new house ready, they couldn’t just move in immediately due to the need for furnishing.

Eileen, seeing Roderick’s firm stance, didn’t want to drag out the disagreement. Once Judie had the baby, she nned to return the money to Roderick. He would have no grounds to reject it then.

“Fine, I’ll ept it. But you’re not short on money, right?” she asked.

Roderick shed a grin. “Yeah, I’ve still got around a hundred thousand left. Don’t worry about it.”
