?Chapter 639:
Bryan’s arms tightened around her waist, pulling her closer, as if he wanted to merge with her. “That’s just part of the reason.”
The thought of not being able to be with her physically tormented him. So, going home felt like torture to him.
With flushed ears, Eileen pulled away from him and said, “Let Josue drive you home tonight. I need to go home and prepare.”
She thought about it for a moment, feeling Bryan wasn’t fit to climb stairs given his condition.
“The doctor said climbing stairs will aid my recovery,” Bryan said, seeing through her thoughts. “But it’s probably better if Josue takes me home tonight. You can go ahead with your tasks now.”
“Then I’ll head back first,” Eileen replied.
After leaving the hospital, Eileen passed a flower shop and bought arge bouquet—a symbol of hope and renewal—on her way home.
Ruby was surprised when Eileen walked in with the flowers. “Why the sudden flower purchase?”
Eileen ced the flowers in a vase and replied, “Mom, Bryan is being discharged tonight. He can continue his treatment at home now.”
Ruby’s face lit up with surprise and joy. “That’s wonderful! Bailee said she’d take me to visit him at the hospital tomorrow, but now he can be home.”
“Yes,” Eileen answered. Then, she added softly, “I’m going to marry Bryan.”
Ruby blinked, taken aback. “It’s about time. How long will his recovery take? Are you nning to hold the wedding after he recovers or now? Can he handle it?”

Ruby didn’t know much about Bryan’s condition—only that he had lost his memory and might have been injured in the ne crash.
Eileen hesitated but didn’t mention the full extent of Bryan’s condition. She simply said, “We’ll hold the wedding now. He… He might never fully recover.”
Ruby trembled at this, almost losing her bnce. She quickly steadied herself and eased down onto the sofa, her face a mixture of urgency and concern.
“What’s really happening to him? Tell me the truth!” she urged.
“Coen injected him with an experimental drug,” Eileen exined sinctly. She didn’t dare go into the details of what the drug might do, only mentioning that its effects were unknown.
“So, there’s no certainty about Bryan’s recovery?” Ruby’s eyes widened with disbelief and concern. “And you’re still nning to marry him?”
Realizing how her words sounded, Ruby quickly added, “Eileen, that’s not what I meant. I just… What will you do if he doesn’t get better? You love him so much, but can you handle it? I’m worried you might suffer because of how deeply you love him.”
Eileen gently sat beside Ruby and patted her arm, reassuring her. “It’s not that I’m just falling in love with him now. I’ve loved him deeply for a long time.” She paused, her voice softening. “And don’t worry. Gabri will keep me grounded.”
Tears streamed down Ruby’s face, and she was at a loss for words, unable to convince or scold Eileen.
Eileen continued, her tone reflective. “When I first married him, I had just graduated from college, and you had just fallen ill. He seemed like a miracle to me, someone unattainable, yet he saved both of us. Later, when I worked at Apex Group, I never imagined that my boss was the same man I had been married to for three years. He helped us again, making sure you could continue your treatment.”
