Chapter 602

    ?Chapter 602:

“Do you have any suggestions? He came backst night, left early this morning, and left me exhausted in bed without saying a word. I need to get back at him,” Phoebe said.

Eileen quickly proposed a n. “Let’s head to the D.V Club tonight. I’ll help you blow off some steam.”

    Phoebe immediately agreed, “Deal.”

Eileen skipped dinner and headed straight to the D.V Club.

The entrance of the club was bustling. A waiter escorted Eileen to the private room Phoebe had reserved.

Inside the private room, Phoebe, whom Eileen hadn’t seen for quite some time, appeared rejuvenated. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, a change from her previous style. She looked every bit like a charming mother now.

“Jacob said he’ll be here in ten minutes,” Phoebe said as she stood to wee Eileen. They both sat down together. “You have to help me release this anger.”

“Don’t worry,” Eileen said, checking her watch. “I’ve arranged for something special, and it should be here any minute.”

Just as she finished speaking, the door opened. Several waiters entered, carrying arge durian, instant noodles, and a washboard.

“Peel the durian and drop the peel on the floor,” Eileen ordered.

The waitersplied, and soon the room filled with the pungent aroma of durian. Phoebe, too impatient to wait for the waiters to finish peeling, grabbed some of the durian to eat.

She muttered, “Kneeling on the peel would hurt, right?”

“Do you pity Jacob?” Eileen asked. “He doesn’t need to kneel. We’ll let drinking take the ce of kneeling. Five sses of wine will rece ten minutes of kneeling on the durian, three sses for kneeling on the washboard, and two sses for the instant noodles.”

Eileen was confident that if Jacob got drunk, she could extract information about Bryan’s condition from him.

Jacob pushed open the door and strolled into the room, his hands buried in his pockets. He hadn’t even started to say anything to Phoebe when he caught sight of Eileen sitting next to her.

A wave of dread instantly engulfed him. He was more afraid of Eileen than of his wife.

Eileen had gone to the lengths of retrieving Bryan from a remote vige and even suggesting they take him straight to a morgue. Jacob realized that Eileen had be much more daunting than the mere assistant he had once known her as.

Still, he harbored no pity for Bryan. In his eyes, Bryan deserved no sympathy for indulging his wife to the extent that she had changed so much.

Avoiding Eileen’s gaze, Jacob approached Phoebe. “Honey, why did you want to go to the club? Should I call some toy boys over for you?”

As he took a seat, his eyesnded on the washboard and the durian peel. The two bags of instant noodles were partially obscured by the corner of the table.

A pang of anxiety struck him. “Perhaps I should invite a few more for you, too, Eileen.”
