Chapter 600:
“Eileen, why are you walking so swiftly? Bryan can’t keep up with you because of his legs,” Josue said.
“Why does he want to keep up with me?” Eileen fired back.
Josue’s expression darkened. “Bryan will go home with you.”
“Why should he go home with me?” Eileen replied sharply. “I only brought him back because I see no need for him to hide from me. Don’t overthink it. I’ll leave him in your care. Take him to the hospital if he can be saved, or to the morgue if not.”
With that, she turned and walked away briskly.
Bryan couldn’t help but chuckle upon hearing her words.
He knew Eileen was upset, but that wasn’t such a difficult problem to solve.
“Why are youughing now?” Josue asked. “With her attitude, I wouldn’t trust her to care for you. I fear she might just send you straight to the morgue and cremate you.”
“Didn’t the doctor advise that Bryan should be ready for exams and treatment in the hospital?” Jacob asked. “Bryan, now that you’re back, you should head directly to the hospital.”
It wasn’t that Bryan had never received treatment before, but his condition hadn’t been consistently monitored, which had prevented the doctors from detecting problems promptly.
That evening, Jacob and Josue took Bryan to the hospital and arranged for his regr doctor to oversee his care at the hospital in Onnd.
Ruby had been waiting for Eileen since hearing of her return.
Gabri, having not seen Ruby in quite some time, was overjoyed to see her. She babbled in front of Ruby as if they had never been apart.
“Has Bryan returned?” Ruby asked eagerly after spending some time ying with Gabri.

“He has. He’s probably at the hospital by now,” Eileen replied as she organized her belongings.
Ruby was shocked. “Hospital? Did he regain his memory? Is there anything wrong with his health?”
“He’s alright. Don’t worry,” Eileen reassured Ruby while taking Gabri from her arms. She then asked, “How is Bailee doing?”
“I spoke with Frankie. Winona isn’t doing well. Frankie mentioned that the decision was up to the kids. They don’t want to hold them back.” Ruby felt a sense of relief from their agreement.
Winona was now back home, with professionals looking after her.
Frankie had suggested that Bailee and Huey move back to live with Winona. That way, if anything happened, they could assist her promptly.
“Has Bailee moved into the Baker family’s home?” Eileen asked, pleased to hear some positive news.
“Yes,” Ruby replied with a smile. “You’re both dealing with one problem after another. When can I stop worrying?”
“You can stop worrying now. As long as Gabri and I are fine, you don’t need to worry about anyone else,” Eileen answered.
