    “Always remember that your safetyes first,” Bryan said, his voice still filled with worry.

    Eileen tilted her head sideways against the back of the sofa while Bryan pressed gently on her elbow. The heat from the towel seeped through her skin, spreading warmth through her blood.

    Two hourster, Ruby returned with Gabri to find Eileen asleep.


    Ruby’s expression was slightly odd, but Eileen, groggy from her nap, didn’t notice it. She picked up the baby and yed with her on the crawling mat.
