?Chapter 461:
Over the weekend, Bailee and Huey arrived at ten with a variety of presents—including clothes and toys for Gabri.
Having been apart from Bailee for some time, Gabri no longer recognized her and resisted being held. Bailee pursued Gabri, attempting to engage her with yful antics, while Huey, observing nearby, joined in the fun.
The scene was cheerful for a while, leaving Ruby without the chance to converse privately with Bailee.
It wasn’t until Bryan descended the stairs and took Gabri away that Bailee and Huey lost their chance to interact with the child.
They then settled quietly on the couch, and the mood unexpectedly shifted to one of awkwardness.
Eileen took the initiative to ease the tension. “I’m not the best cook. Why don’t you help Mom in the kitchen while I keep Hueypany?” she suggested, creating an opportunity for Ruby to pull Bailee aside for a private conversation.
Bailee quickly stood and followed Ruby to the kitchen, the door closing behind them.
Through the ss window, anyone could observe the mother and daughter as they engaged in conversation while busying themselves with kitchen tasks.
“Eileen, is Ruby upset?” Huey asked, his intuition sensing there was something wrong. He recalled greeting Ruby earlier, but she hadn’t acknowledged him.
Eileen responded with another question, “What do you think might be bothering her?”
Huey hesitated for a moment before sharing, “Could it be because… we got married without informing you? Ruby stayed with us for a few days, and I always felt like she was watching me. It made me ufortable.” He scratched his head, ncing towards the kitchen. “Having lived with her for so long, don’t you think she can be… a bit irritating at times?”
As Huey’s question hung in the air, Eileen’s expression grew somber.

She asked, “If your mother had no objections to your rtionship with Bailee, would you choose to stay with your parents after marriage, or would you move out?”
“Absolutely, I’d move out,” Huey answered without hesitation. “We young people are worlds apart from our elders. Sharing a roof would only lead to constant bickering.”
Eileen was momentarily silent. She didn’t particrly mind Ruby living with her, nor was she opposed to the idea of their parents staying over.
“Even sharing space with Bailee can be challenging—adding elders to the mix would onlyplicate things further,” Huey mused, his tone reflecting his youthful perspective.
Opting not to dwell on their earlier discussion, Eileen shifted the topic. “Your mother came by yesterday. She mentioned a childhood fiancée of yours, someone you’ve promised to meet.”
