Chapter 313

    ?Chapter 313:

The Ferguson family was not known for ying games.

Therefore, if Eileen aimed to establish her presence within Ferguson Group, she needed a significant project, and the Walsh family’s project seemed ideal.

This period gave her the chance to truly rejuvenate and gather her strength.

Although she asionally dealt with minor issues at the branchpany, her main focus remained on studying the details of the Walsh family’s project.

Meanwhile, Z was also actively pursuing the same project.

With Kian’s involvement, she had managed to secure several private meetings with Lnd.

However, each encounter with Lnd resulted in her being taken advantage of, and despite her sacrifices, she still failed to secure the project.

Left with no other option, Z sought Bryan’s help once more. She confronted him outside his office after work, her face tense with frustration.

“You can’t justpletely detach yourself from everything now that I’m handling Apex Group’s operations,” she protested, stretching her arms across the hallway to block Bryan’s path. “It was no small feat to snag this project from Lnd, but with you on board, we can definitely pull it off!”

“And why exactly should I help you?” Bryan asked, his tone carrying a hint of challenge.

Z’s eyes shed with urgency. “Apex Group belongs to you too, doesn’t it? How can you even frame this as helping me?”

“If it’s mine, then it’s none of your business what I do with it,” Bryan replied coldly as he walked around her to press the elevator button.

Driven by desperation, Z stepped in front of the elevator doors, blocking his way.

“I can’t keep this up much longer,” she said, her voice strained. “We have, at most, two more months before the Walsh family project moves intounch preparations. I can stall for two months, max. After that, you’ll need to step in so we can secure the project together, okay?”

She knew that after those two months, petition for the project would increase, and without Bryan’s influence, she would be left with only one option—sumbing to Lnd’s advances.

Bryan’s response was cold and dismissive. “If you can’t keep it up, then just let it go. I won’t be avable after two months.”

Stunned, Z demanded, “What could possibly be so important that you won’t have time for this?”

He was clearly just spending his days idly at thepany, so where could he be going?

After a brief pause, Bryan frowned and announced, “I’m going abroad.”

While Z was still processing his words, Raymond seized the opportunity to pull her away from the elevator doors.

“Wait—” Z tried to resist, but it was toote. Bryan stepped inside the elevator, and the doors slid shut.

“What are you going abroad for?!” she shouted, but her voice was cut off by the closing doors.

Raymond entered the elevator with Bryan, his gaze shifting uneasily. The silence hung between them for a moment before he spoke up.

“Mr. Dawson, the Walsh family project is crucial for Apex Group’s survival,” Raymond said, his toneced with concern. “With a potential breakthrough just two months away, can you really afford to leave the country now?”

Bryan leaned against the elevator wall, his posture rxed but his eyes distant. His gaze was sharp but hollow, and he exhaled slowly as if carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

“I’m going abroad, not having an affair,” he replied, his voice tinged with both weariness and indifference. “Why are you making such a fuss?”

“I…” Raymond hesitated, visibly flustered before blurting out, “You don’t have any chance of having an affair anyway.”

Bryan’s gaze shifted to him, sharp as a de.

Raymond’s heart skipped a beat. Panicking, he quickly corrected himself.

“Mr. Dawson, can you be honest with me? Is there still hope for Apex Group to recover? If I switch jobs… you won’t hold it against meter, right?”

His words echoed in the confined space, his tone filled with uncertainty and quiet desperation.

The thought of leaving Apex Group was daunting. If thepany were to rebound after his departure, Raymond knew he wouldn’t be able to face anyone.

“Apex Group will not recover,” Bryan dered with certainty. “But I won’t let you fall with it.”

Raymond found the implications hard to decipher, yet he was now convinced that staying with Bryan would still benefit him.

“Starting tomorrow, I won’t being to Apex Group,” Bryan continued, his tone firm but calm. “You’ll hold the fort. Once I’ve sorted out a few things, I’ll be back.”

His mind was already on Eileen. He needed to see her.

After a brief pause, he added, “You don’t have to hide where I am. Let them think I’m acting out of a broken heart. A little impulsiveness from me will seem natural to them.”

“Understood,” Raymond nodded, a subtle smile tugging at his lips. “So, you’re going to reignite an old me, huh?”

“I have no interest in that,” Bryan interjected abruptly, his eyes sharp with warning. “Don’t spread such nonsense.”

If certain individuals actually took those words to heart and believed there was still a spark between him and Eileen, it could bring unnecessary trouble to her.

    Meanwhile…

Time had flown by, and Eileen’s pregnancy had advanced to over eight months. Her due date was just ten days away.

All the preparations for delivery had been made. Everything was in ce, simply awaiting the baby’s arrival.

    Suddenly, a realization struck Rylie.

“We shouldn’t handle the postpartum period on our own,” she announced, pulling out several glossy pamphlets. “Ruby, let’s visit some of these ces soon. Don’t you think professional care would be better?”

Ruby, who had never considered such an option before, turned to Eileen to gauge her reaction. But it was clear from Eileen’s face that she hadn’t thought about it either.

“Well…” Ruby hesitated before responding. “The doctor mentioned that Eileen could go intobor at any moment now. It’s crucial she isn’t left alone.”

“First births aren’t usually that quick,” Rylie replied, her eyes flicking over to Eileen, who was snacking on some fruit. “Look at her. She’s perfectly fine, right? She definitely won’t be giving birth today. Why don’t youe with me to check out the top two options?”

The three of them exchanged uncertain nces. Ruby was still hesitant.

After a brief pause, Ruby turned to Eileen and asked, “Eileen, what’s your take on this? I’ve taken care of kids before, but I might not match up to a professional.”

Rylie quickly interjected, “You’re definitely no match for a professional.”

“Professional or not, the important thing is keeping the baby safe and sound,” Eileen said firmly, her resolve clear. From the beginning, she had always aimed to ensure a safe birth and a healthy upbringing for her child.

“I’ll cover the costs,” Rylie announced confidently. “Don’t worry, I have more than enough money. We’ll choose the most expensive and best option avable. Ruby, you wouldn’t hesitate to spend for your daughter’s well-being, would you?”

Ruby nced at Eileen, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

“Of course not,” she replied, her voice soft but resolute. “We’ll do what’s best for both Eileen and the baby.”

The atmosphere grew lighter, and despite the looming uncertainty, they each felt a little more at ease knowing the right support would be there when the time came.
