Chapter 97

    ?Chapter 97:

Eileen rested her head on his shoulder, her eyes fixed on his alluring Adam’s apple.

The room’s silence did little to thin the air of intimacy, and after a while, Bryan’s breathing turned heavy and rough.

Noticing this, Eileen straightened her clothes, slid off hisp, and moved to sit at the other end of the sofa, clutching a book and staring down, seemingly deep in thought.

“Why did Vivian say that you’re pregnant?” Bryan broke the silence abruptly, turning his head to look straight at her.

Eileen shook her head. “I don’t know where she got that.”

Bryan’s expression showed dissatisfaction with her response, frowning. He massaged his forehead before posing another question, “Do you still want to return to Apex Group?”

This question tightened Eileen’s chest, leaving her feeling torn.

Even though Vivian was no longer at Apex Group, returning to work with Bryan would ce her right back in the midst of the Warren family’s troubles.

She would once again be embroiled in their conflicts.

Yet, if she didn’t return, she would forfeit her sry, and she needed money right now.

Observing her deep in thought, Bryan let out a scoff.

He stood up, approached her, and rested his hand on the back of the sofa, leaning down to pinch her chin and forcing her to meet his gaze.

“What are you hesitating for? Everyone inside thepany, even the janitors, knows you’ve slept with me. Do you still have the face to go back?”

His tone carried a hint of danger, probably still disturbed by the public knowledge of their affair.

“If that’s the case, why don’t you just fire me, Mr. Dawson?” Eileen retorted.

The pressure on her chin intensified suddenly, and she winced, her heart sinking as she observed Bryan’s icy eyes.

“Where would you go if I did that?” Bryan said.

Was she nning to find a new sugar daddy and sell herself for money?

Thinking of that, Bryan’s expression darkened. He released her chin abruptly, and with the force of his release, she turned her head away.

He hadn’t explicitly voiced his thoughts, but Eileen grasped his implication.

His words were like shards of ss to her heart. She bit her lip, losing all courage to look him in the eye.

Her once tidy ponytail had loosened, draping over her shoulders. Strands of hair fell across her chest, subtly highlighting her delicate corbones.

Seeing her like this, Bryan exhaled sharply, stood up, and rolled up his sleeves as he gazed out the window.

Eileen straightened her clothes, stood up behind him, and said, “I won’t disturb your rest any longer, Mr. Dawson. I’ll leave now.”

She didn’t wait for his response and just left the room.

Bryan furrowed his brow as she left, his jaw clenched in frustration.

Suddenly, his phone rang. Raymond was calling him.

“Dawson, grandmother asked me to check on your ns for the weekend and inquire why you haven’t returned to the Dawson Mansion to apany her,” Raymond said.

Bryan had cleared his schedule in advance to free up his weekend, which was how he had left Raymond behind today.

However, he hadn’t anticipated Raymond calling to monitor his whereabouts.

“I’ll return tonight. I’ve been at Han’s house tutoring his son today,” Bryan replied.

After ending the call, a thought struck him, and he promptly blocked the number.

When Raymond attempted to call again, he found he couldn’t get through. Frustrated, he reported to Ste, “Dawson has blocked me.”

Ste was in the courtyard, enjoying the sunlight, her eyes narrowed. “I told you to keep an eye on him, and you let him slip away. You should have known he wouldn’t be at thepany this weekend after rushing to finish his work on Friday. Where is he now?”

“Mr. Dawson is at Mr. rkson’s house, iming he’s tutoring Mr. rkson’s son,” Raymond responded, in disbelief that Bryan would spend his time tutoring a child.

Ste was familiar with Han and aware of Aaron’s challenging behavior, so she pondered for a moment before instructing, “Continue to monitor Bryan. If he doesn’t want you to follow, follow him discreetly. Don’t let him disappear again.”

“Yes,” Raymond said, promptly departing and making a beeline for Han’s mansion.

That afternoon, after Bryan had wrapped up the basketball session, he found his way back to the living room for a cup of coffee with Han by the window. It was then that he noticed a car stationed at the entrance.

The car was unmistakably Raymond’s; Bryan recognized it immediately.

His expression tightened, and he set down his cup. “I’vepleted the day’s tutoring; I’ll be taking my leave.” He retrieved his coat and made his way out, with Han apanying him to the gate and watching him leave.

Rather than heading straight to his own car, Bryan approached Raymond’s vehicle and rapped sharply on the window.

Raymond got out of the car at once and greeted, “Mr. Dawson.”

“Are you intending to shadow me everywhere I go?” Bryan’s voice was sharp, his stare drilling into Raymond with unsettling precision.

“Mr. Dawson, your grandmother has requested this,” Raymond said, feeling resigned.

Bryan was well aware that this directive hade from his grandmother. He exhaled deeply, pausing for a moment before instructing, “Return to the office and tell HR to release a statement concerning Eileen.”

“Yes,” Raymond responded immediately, though he couldn’t help but ask, “And what about you, Mr. Dawson?”

    Bryanmanded with a grim stare.

Hearing that, Raymond quickly climbed back into his car and elerated away.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Eileen concluded her final tutoring session for the day, noting Bryan’s absence.

She walked down the road in the glow of the setting sun, eventually reaching the bus stop. Just after she boarded the bus, her phone pinged with an email from the HR department at Apex Group.
