Even in his precarious state, Jake asked Kallie earnestly, “If I were on the brink of death, would you be honest with me? Do you still harbor feelings for me? I realize you see me primarily as the father of your children, the man you once intended to marry again. But tell me, do you still love me, Kallie?”
