Chapter 1709

    ?Chapter 1709:

“I spoke with Niks today. After our conversation, I decided you and he just aren’t right for each other, so I asked him not toe around anymore.”

eptance flickered in Carol’s eyes. “Alright.”

With a soft touch, Dani patted Carol’s hand. “Don’t worry. One day, I’ll help you find someone who truly deserves you.”

A wistful smile tugged at Carol’s lips. “Okay,” she whispered, sadness mingling with hope.

Questions about Dani’s talk with Niks never left Carol’s mouth. For her, Dani’s judgment was enough. If Dani didn’t approve, then it wasn’t meant to be. She didn’t need to ask why.

Behind a closed door, Brad guessed Dani was telling Carol something important. Ear pressed to the wood, he tried to catch their conversation, but the only sounds were ghostly wails and crashing waves from the television. Defeated, Brad muttered to himself, “Dani is quite a character, using horror movies to toughen the babies up before they’re even born.”

    The following day arrived.

Around midday, Dani sat in the living room, quietly focused on a stack of research notes.

Just then, the housekeeper approached Carol and said, “Miss ke, there’s someone at the door asking to see you.”

Still absorbed in her game, Carol nced up and spotted Niks standing outside.

Without meaning to, she paused the screen and turned to Dani.

Dani, calm as always, said gently, “Since he’s alreadye, you might as well hear what he wants to say. It’s better to have rity than let things stay muddled. That’s not like you.”

Carol gave a nod, ced her phone down without a word, and rose to her feet. Niks remained at the entrance, looking far less certain than usual. His confidence seemed to have taken a hit.

“Carol,” he said in a quiet tone.

Carol stood still, her expression nk. The usual indifference in her eyes had deepened into distance.

“Didn’t Dani already speak to you yesterday?” she asked. “What she said sums up everything I think.”

Niks gave a small shake of his head. “I know, but I’ve been thinking things over.”

Carol responded with a slight smirk, “And what exactly do you need to think about? If it’s whether or not to turn your back on your own family for my sake, then don’t bother. Once you start weighing pros and cons, your decision’s already made. You don’t have to reach out again. Let’s leave it here.”<fn894b> Checktest chapters at Find~Novel</fn894b>

Carol turned away and stepped back inside, her steps firm.

Niks stayed frozen on the doorstep. Brad, having witnessed what happened, hurried out of the vi and closed the door. From the narrow gap, Brad’s voice came through.
