?Chapter 1661:
In the end, Victoria copsed under the weight of her own weakness.
By the following morning, the divorce trial ended before it could even begin. Victoria’s sudden death made it unnecessary.
Josh showed upter that day, swaggering into Dani’s office with a new woman clinging to his arm.
Carol’s jaw clenched. She looked ready to throw them both out.
Dani gave her a brief look. Carol stepped aside but red hard at Josh, who only grew smug and stretched out his hand.
His partner reached into her purse and pulled out a tiny bag of wedding favors. “You must be Ms. Harper. Tomorrow’s our big day! Josh and I are tying the knot. I brought some sweets to share.”
Dani nced at the treatsid out before her. Her smile cut sharper than ss. “Well, that’s fast work. Just lost your wife yesterday, and here you are nning your next.” Her eyes shifted to the girl. She looked young—definitely not the woman who had raised six of Josh’s children. “A brand-new one, I see.” Josh caught her meaning but shrugged it off. “Men need variety. That’s just how it is. Only foolish women expect loyalty.”
Dani’s fingers tightened slightly on the table. “Is that right? Then I hope the women around you are smart enough to keep their dreams to themselves. These days, a woman needs her own bank ount more than she needs a man.”
The girl beside Josh faltered. Her smile slipped. Dani noticed right away.
Dani asked, “Ma’am, what’s your name?”
Josh opened his mouth, but the girl beat him to it. Her voice dropped to a gentler tone. “I’m Felicia.”
Josh frowned. “Felicia, don’t be so soft. You don’t need to treat people like her with kindness.”
Felicia gave Dani a small smile. She said nothing else but held Dani’s gaze as she turned to leave. Just before stepping out, she mouthed, “We’ll meet again.”

Once they were gone, Carol leaned in. “What’s her deal? What does Felicia even mean?”
Dani chuckled. “She’s a smart one.”
Right after Josh left, the three McCoy brothers entered with grim expressions.
“Josh is beyond heartless!” Brad burst out, visibly worked up. “Victoria was a good woman. And he had Mason kill her without hesitation.”
Ethan shook his head. “He’spletely lost it. Always acted like the perfect husband. Now that he was done using her, he tossed her aside. She gave him a son, for crying out loud.”
Hamilton crossed his arms. “He even said the wedding’s tomorrow. I’m not going.”
“I’m not either,” said Brad without hesitation.<fn892e> Content originallyes from fin?novel</fn892e>
Ethan nodded. “Count me out too.”
All three turned to Dani, expecting her to take a stand with them.
To their shock, she replied, “I’m going. I’ve been living in Oiscoll for a while and haven’t seen a local wedding before. Might as well see what it’s like.”
The following day, Josh—once mocked for failing to lead McCoy Group—now stood proud as its head.
