Chapter 1648

    ?Chapter 1648:

Josh scoffed. “Go on, let’s see what you’ve got. You want to drag this out with me? I’m dying to see how you n to do it.”

His gaze drilled into Hamilton. “You remember what Dad used to say, don’t you? Back when he was still alive, he told you to listen to your big brother and keep your head down. Is that all thrown aside now that he’s gone? You finally can’t hold yourself back anymore, huh? You think you’re ready to challenge me?” He thrust his finger toward his cheek. “Go on—hit me. I dare you.”

He closed the gap in a few quick strides, his presence overwhelming.

The three McCoy brothers kept stumbling backward until their spines pressed t against the wall, their faces drawn and helpless, all bravado wiped clean.

From her seat, Dani reclined, watching the pitiful scene unfold. Every silent nce the brothers shot her way screamed for rescue.

Josh let out a mocking snort. “What are you gawking at? Thought you were bold enough to challenge me? Go ahead—take your shot. Let’s see which one of you has the guts.”

Suddenly, a sharp p split the air, ringing out with authority.

All three brothers jerked their heads up.

Dani raised her eyes, still impassive, her expression unreadable. With fierce confidence, she dered, “I have.”

The sharp crack of the p left the entire room reeling in stunned silence. For a long moment, the group just gawked at Josh, eyes darting from his reddening cheek to Dani’s calm expression.

The shock hit Joshst—his jaw ck, then snapping shut as rage twisted his features. Slowly, color drained from his face, reced by a venomous re.

“Dani, how dare you hit me!”

He looked ready to unravel, teetering on the edge of a breakdown. Hatred darkened his gaze, turning it icy and deadly as he stared at Dani. “You must be tired of living. Not even my father ever raised a hand to me. Who the hell do you think you are? Mark my words, Dani—one of us isn’t leaving this room.”

Without warning, he drew a dagger, the de catching the light as it emerged from his pocket.

Hamilton and his brothers froze, caught off guard, but before they could react, Dani struck. In a blur, her fingers closed around Josh’s wrist, squeezing so hard his hand flew open.

The dagger hit the floor with a metallic ng, skidding away.<fn840f> Discover more novels at find·novel</fn840f>

Josh’s wrist twisted awkwardly, agony shing across his features as he dropped to his knees in defeat. Dani barely seemed to move, her expression unreadable, cool as ever.

She crouched down to Josh’s level, her eyes hard as steel. “Clearly, your parents never taught you manners. Today, I’m giving you a lesson for their sake.”

Josh, flushed with rage and trembling from the pain shooting up his wrist, found himself unable to form words.

Sweat trickled down his forehead as he fought to catch his breath. Instead, he turned his anger outward, his voice raw with desperation. “Are you all blind? Can’t you see she’s out of control? Hamilton, what are you waiting for? Get this lunatic away from me!”

The moment his outburst ended, hisplexion turned ghostly, his lips nched to an ugly white.
