Chapter 1598

    ?Chapter 1598:

The room stilled, thick with tension.

The McCoys folded their arms, waiting for an answer. Wasn’t Dani supposed to be ruthless? If so, shouldn’t Carol pay with a finger too?

They hid their delight behind smug faces, eager for Dani to squirm.

But unexpectedly, Dani asked Carol, “Did they hurt you?”

Carol, standing strong with her arms folded, gave a grin. “No. Trash like that can’t touch me.”

Dani nodded once. “Good to hear.”

She faced Brad and said, “Since no harm was done, I’ll let this slide.”

The McCoys stared at her, lost for words. Damn, Dani really shielded her people.

Brad picked up Ethan’s broken finger with a shaky hand. “That’s it? You’re not serious, right?”

Dani rose from the couch. Outside, the light faded. Shadows crept in, carving edges on her cold face. She locked eyes with Brad and asked, “Want it fair? I’ll snap your finger too. He won’t feel lonely.”<fnf44c> ???? ????s? ???????s ?? find·novel</fnf44c>

Brad met her stare. Though taller, he shrank inside and forced down a gulp. “No. There’s no need.”

Dani kept her eyes on him, her voice sharp. “Is there more to talk about?”

Brad’s voice cracked. “No. There’s nothing left to say.”

In a blink, her icy re softened into bored dismissal. “We didn’t n for visitors today. Better leave before lunch starts.”

The McCoys looked stunned. They had barely sat down, yet she was already pushing them out the door.

They lingered awkwardly, unwilling to budge, Ethan’s hand throbbing in the quiet.

Where was her sense of manners now?

Each McCoy shot the other a look, seeing the same reluctance reflected back. Brad had already confronted Dani but hadn’t gotten what he wanted. None of them dared push her further.

They turned to leave when Jules let out a lowugh. “Dani, we don’t mean to meddle, but the baby you’re carrying might be the first boy in our family. He means a lot to our traditions. This is serious, and we’re deeply concerned.”

Dani flicked her eyes over the McCoys, surprise shing in them. With so many children under their name, was this one child really that big a deal? She hadn’t seen thating.

Jules caught her puzzled look and added with a soft grin, “Here’s the thing. When our father died, he left word: whoever brings him a great-grandson into this world first gets to run McCoy Group. So, naturally, we care about the baby’s gender. We do care about you too, of course.”

Dani had never given that old tale much thought. She did remember skimming a file about their father’s wishes, but it had never seemed worth her time. She never had any appetite for the McCoy fortune anyway.
