?Chapter 1578:
Josh wasted no time backing him up. “Exactly, Hamilton. They’re your kids. You’re the one who should handle it. That’s on you.”
Brad chimed in, “This isn’t something we can resolve without you. We need your guidance.”
Jules added, “Right. If his uncles interfere, Cedric might never forgive us. It’ll only look like we’re out to make his life harder.”
Their arguments were smooth, almost rehearsed.
But Hamilton wasn’t about to let it slide. He looked at them with feigned surprise, his voice sharp. “You’re calling Cedric your nephew now? Didn’t you refuse to ept Cedric? Funny, ing from the same people who called him a bastard behind my back and thought I’d never hear about it.”
Josh’s mouth opened and closed, searching for aeback buting up empty. The rest had nothing to say either.
“Hamilton, I don’t have time for your nonsense,” Josh said, his frustration boiling over. “Let’s cut to the chase. Are you really going to stand by and watch McCoy Group copse?”
Hamilton met Josh’s re with a calm, faintly amused smile. “You’re still as hot-headed as ever, Josh.”
Josh’s features twisted, a scowl spreading across his face that looked strikingly like theirte father’s.
“What is it you want, then?” Josh demanded, his voice rising. “Are you hoping to see McCoy Group lose everything? Don’t you have a heart, Hamilton?”
Hamilton let his eyes drift shut for a moment. “Don’t pin this mess on me. I’m not the reason McCoy Group’s in trouble. And like I’ve told you before, I’m too old and worn out to keep fighting these battles.”
All four brothers frowned at his words.<fn4605> This text is hosted at find·novel</fn4605>

Brad pressed him. “What are you getting at, Hamilton?”
Hamilton answered, “It’s simple. I’m no longer young, and I don’t have the energy to keep running the show. It’s time the next generation stepped up.”
That brought a hush over the group.
Josh stared at him, searching Hamilton’s face. “Then, who do you think should lead us?”
Hamilton lifted his hands as if he were open to suggestion. “Let whoever is actuallypetent take charge. Isn’t that what’s best for the family?”
Josh stiffened. “Mason is currently leading McCoy Group, and the only reason he’s in the hospital is because he was defending the McCoy family.”
“Is that so?” Hamilton gave a coldugh. “Last I checked, Mason got himself hurt harassing Dani. And now you want an incapacitated man to take charge of McCoy Group? That’s just ridiculous.”
“Hamilton McCoy!” Josh erupted, nearly lunging across the room before his brothers stepped in to restrain him. With a trembling finger, he jabbed the air at Hamilton. “Listen to yourself! Do you even have a conscience?”
Hamilton, unbothered, sipped his coffee. “I’ve said my piece. Whether you like it or not, the decision’s yours. So, what’s it going to be? Keep a leader who can barely stand, or let someonepetent take over McCoy Group? That choice is yours. My doctor wants me to rest, so I’ll leave you all to figure it out. Do whatever you think is best.”
