?Chapter 1525:
Hamilton’s anger boiled over. “I’ve sacrificed everything I have for McCoy Group. Even my own family paid the price. I refuse to let my reputation be destroyed now!”
Someone muttered, “Don’t be so dramatic. As the CEO of McCoy Group, it’s your job to find a way out when things get tough.”
Hamilton’s stare could have frozen water.
“I’ve already made my decision. We need to hit Dani with an economic attack while she’s still vulnerable. If we sit back and do nothing, she’ll be the oneing for us the moment she regains her footing.”
Once again, a heavy silence fell over the group.
Unbeknownst to everyone, the secretary sitting quietly in the corner was capturing every word, logging the details of the tense board meeting.
When the meeting finally ended, thest shareholder paused, startled to see the secretary still there.
“What are you still doing here?”
The secretary adjusted his sses, shing a polite grin.
“I’ve just been taking notes like always. The boss asked me to keep track of anything important and offer help if needed.”
The shareholder’s expression soured. “Next time, there’s no need for you to stick around.”
With a nod and hisptop tucked under his arm, the secretary left, still wearing that pleasant smile.
Outside, Hamilton found Niks waiting for him in the office.
“Dad, what did you mean by what you said back there?” Niks asked.
Hamilton didn’t miss a beat. “You’re not part of McCoy Group anymore. These aren’t your concerns.”
Niks tried to protest, but Hamilton cut him off with a cold re.
“Get out!”
Niks stepped into the living room to find Dani curled up on the sofa, herptop bnced on her knees.
With earbuds tucked in, she appearedpletely absorbed in whatever she was listening to.
Niks’ expression was a mix of guilt and sorrow. He’d had his suspicions before, but now that the truth was out in the open, it weighed heavily on him. His heart felt like it had been dropped into a pit. Even breathing felt wrong.
Silently, he took a seat on the sofa across from her. He didn’t say anything—just sat there, watching her.
Dani didn’t acknowledge him at first. She only nced up briefly, then went right back to herputer.
It wasn’t until her recording ended that she removed the earbuds and looked at him properly.
“Is there something you want to talk about?” she asked.
Niks hesitated before asking, “If the McCoy family ever wronged you, what would you do?”
