Chapter 1520:


    Niks barely stepped through the entrance before someone shoved him in and mmed the door behind him.


    From outside, the secretary called, “Mr. McCoy, please wait here. Your father’s on his way.”


    Niks spun around, stunned. He couldn’t believe it. His own father had thrown him into this mess.


    He reached for his phone without thinking, dialing a number before his brain caught up.


    On the ride home, Niks sat quietly, his thoughts racing. Why had he called Dani? Of all people?


    He reyed the moment over and over until the answer became clear.


    Dani had a way of making people feelpletely safe, as if everything ced in her care would be protected without fail.


    “Dani,” Niks said as he copsed to one knee, trying to keep himself upright while making the call.


    “Niks?” Dani replied, sounding confused.


    “If you’re calling Carol for a midnight snack, you’ve got the wrong number.”


    Niks watched the mist creep in through the air vent. He quickly spoke into the phone, “Are you free right now? Can youe to Saint Sea Resort and get me out of here?”


    Dani’s tone sharpened immediately.


    “What’s going on?”


    Niks swayed slightly.


    “I’m not feeling great,” he muttered.

    Just after that, the phone slipped from his fingers and hit the floor with a soft thud.


    Dani’s voice came through faintly from the speaker.


    “Saint Sea Resort. I’ll be there in five. If you start feeling worse, head to the restroom and ssh cold water on your face. Try to stay awake.”


    Niks managed a weak “okay” before the line went dead.


    He didn’t know why he felt the way he did. Still, hearing Dani’s voice calmed something inside him. Niks gave a small, bitter smile.


    He never imagined he’d fall into his father’s trap so easily.


    A voice called out from outside the door.


    “Mr. McCoy, Damon and Niks aren’t cooperating, but the others are waiting in their rooms. You can bring the princess in now.” Footsteps followed.


    Niks assumed it was Hamilton. He forced himself to lift his head, pale and shaky, just in time to see the door swing open with a violent kick.


    Dani stormed in. Carol followed closely behind.


    Niks stared at them, frozen in shock.


    Carol crouched beside him, supporting his arm.


    “Are you okay?” she asked gently.


    Niks wanted to shake his head. Before he could answer, the secretary’s shrill voice rang from the hallway.
