    The secretary shielded the mouthpiece with her hand and leaned toward Hamilton, murmuring, “Dani insists you answer now—or she’ll march straight to the Loglil king and use you of instigating his daughter to steal her husband.”


    Stunned, Hamilton jumped from his seat and grabbed the phone urgently.


    “Dani! Have you lost your mind?”


    Her tone was icy. “It seems I wasn’t wrong. The king is unaware that his ideal candidate for son-inw is my devoted partner. He also doesn’t realize his daughter is chasing a man who has no intention of leaving his wife. This mess? All your doing. Do you think the princess is aware you’re toying with her?”


    She had unraveled everything. She understood exactly what haunted Hamilton most.


    “You…” Words failed him as dread squeezed his chest. Dani was unnervingly perceptive. He struggled to keep up with her, and his sons wouldn’t stand a chance against her.


    Even without the full picture, she had seen straight through his schemes.

    Dani kept her voice steady. “Hamilton, let me make this clear. If I find out you’re still trying to arrange a meeting between my husband and the princess, I won’t be this nice next time.”

    Hamilton didn’t flinch. “What if Cedric actually likes the princess? What are you going to do then? You think you can stop him? If your man’s drifting toward someone else, maybe that’s on you for not keeping him close.”


    Just then, Cedric walked in from the garden. Dani didn’t bother whispering. She spoke into the phone, “You started this mess. If Cedric ends up interested in her, I’ll me you for it. From now on, every time she shows up near him, I’ll assume you’re the reason—and you’ll have to deal with whates next.”


    Hamilton had never met a woman who couldmand a room like she did.


    “So if Cedric falls for her, it’s my fault now? Seriously? The princess is beautiful. It’s not exactly shocking if he’s into her. And if you can’t keep your husband’s attention, maybe that says more about you than it does about me!”


    Cedric was about to take Dani’s phone and talk to Hamilton when Dani replied firmly, “Exactly. I will me you. If this marriage breaks down because of anything that happens from here on out, it’s on you. So you’d better think twice.”


    Hamilton let out an exaggerated sigh.
