    Cedric had always been open with Dani on business. That made Arthur’s nervousness all the more suspicious.


    “No, it’s just a minor project—not important enough to bother you with,” Arthur replied.


    Carol had already closed the distance.


    Arthur had no choice but to surrender the file.


    Carol handed the file over to Dani.


    Dani studied the contents carefully. The project showed great promise. More specifically, it was perfectly suited for coboration and quite profitable. If her goal ining to Oiscoll had been profit, this project would have been a perfect fit. Sadly, that wasn’t her true purpose.


    The project belonged to McCoy Group. She was already probing past issues and making headway. She wanted to avoid getting too deeply entangled with McCoy Group, as that couldplicate things down the road.


    Dani set the file aside and nced at Arthur, whose nervousness was in to see.


    “It’s a solid project,” Dani said evenly.


    Arthur visibly rxed, but she added, “Still, hold off on all coborations with McCoy Group for now.”


    Arthur looked up, surprised. “Why is that?”


    Carol clicked her tongue. “Just follow orders. Does the CEO need to exin her decisions to you?”


    Arthur walked away, clearly deted.

    Dani’s eyes narrowed as she watched Arthur’s heavy footsteps fade. “Keep an eye on him,” she told Carol.


    Meanwhile, Hamilton continued to wait patiently for Cedric to reach out.


    Hamilton continued to wait, his impatience growing with each passing minute. Heshed out, kicking his secretary.


    “You said the mole was reliable! What’s going on? It’s been days—why hasn’t Cedric shown up yet?”


    Cedric wasn’t the scheming type, and that only added to Hamilton’s anxiety. If Cedric hadn’t been tempted by wealth, and the princess had lost interest, what card did he have left to y?


    “Call Arthur now! Find out what’s going on! I’ve been waiting for Cedric to take the bait on this coboration, but there’s been nothing. If the offer’s not tempting enough, I’ll sweeten the deal!”


    The secretary, equally confused, replied, “The offer’s already attractive—it can’t be the issue. If you lower the terms any further, we’ll be running at a loss. I’ll call immediately and find out what the problem is.”


    “Move it!” Hamilton snapped, waving his hand impatiently.


    The secretary darted off and returned in a rush.


    “Turns out Cedric never even saw the proposal. Dani intercepted it. Arthur said she gave instructions to hold off on all coborations with McCoy Group.”
