?Chapter 1409:
Charles opened his mouth, likely to offer himself instead, but Damon was already on the move. “Settled then! I’ll head over to Dani’s ce right now. Don’t worry, Father—I’lle back with answers.”
By the time Charles blinked, Damon had bolted, already halfway down the hallway.
Watching the scene unfold, Hamilton narrowed his eyes. “He’s running like he’s going to meet his idol, not going undercover.”
Dread crept into Hamilton’s chest, but before he could second-guess the decision, Damon was long gone.
Hamilton called the housekeeper and told him to block Damon from sneaking back to grab his things.
Hours ticked by. The living room remained silent, undisturbed. Meanwhile, Dani arrived home and chatted with Cedric on their walk up the driveway.
From the distance, someone crouched near the front door caught their attention. Thest time Niks pulled something like this, at least he brought some belongings with him. This figure had nothing—no suitcase.
Carol squinted. “Who’s that?”
With the sky already darkening, Dani could barely make out anything besides a tuft of messy hair catching the porch light.
Niks, however, rushed forward like he’d just spotted a security threat. “Damon! Are you serious right now? Turn around and leave. Now.”
After being brothers for so many years, they could understand each other with just a single nce. Niks immediately figured out Damon’s real reason for showing up—he was clearly trying to get close to Dani.
Leaning over, Damon whispered to Niks, “I’m undercover, man. Don’t ruin it.”
From behind them, Dani blinked in surprise.
Undercover?

Damon?
Was he serious?
Cedric and Dani shared a look, both of them trying not tough.
“Howe Niks gets to stay, but I don’t?” Damon stared at her through the steam rising off his untouched te. “I want to stay here too.”
Dani sipped her soup, barely looking up. “I don’t make those calls. Ask Cedric.”
Damon gave Cedric a look. It wasn’t friendly. Still, he had to speak up. “Give me a room, a big and spacious one.”
When Niks showed up, Cedric didn’t think much. The guy had no ce to go, so he let him crash for a bit. But now, it felt like Niks wasn’t nning to leave anytime soon. On top of that, Cedric had a sinking feeling both men were far too interested in his wife.
“There’s no room left. You and Niks need to pack up today. We just opened a hotel. If money’s tight, that’s your best bet.”
Niks blinked. “No room? The one I’ve been using seems perfectly fine.”
Dani had already finished her meal. She stood up and went upstairs, looking as if the noise behind her didn’t exist.
