Chapter 1240

    Chapter 1240:

Upon spotting Dani emerging, Kohen moved towards her eagerly. His rapid steps brimmed with confidence, as though he had already ascended to the CEO position at McCoy Group.

“Dani!” he called again, his voice buoyant with a hint of apology. “I’m sorry for thete intrusion!”

Dani met his gaze steadily, her expression unfazed.

Undeterred by her stoic look, Kohen shed a grin. “Does what you mentioned back at the hospital still count?”

Dani regarded him calmly. “It does.”

Kohen’s face brightened immediately. “So, you think I’m fit for the role?”

Dani cast a brief nce at him before breaking into a soft chuckle. “And what exactly are you implying?”

Kohen hurried to exin, his voice earnest. “I aim to take the helm of McCoy Group. Do you think I’m up to the task?”

Her expression unreadable, Dani casually took a seat on the bench outside the vi, her posture rxed yetmanding. “I don’t lend my support to the inept. Demonstrate your capabilities, your resolve, and the value you bring to the table.”

Kohen felt the sting of her skepticism; she clearly doubted hispetence. “Sometimes what are perceived as shorings can be advantageous. My straightforwardness makes me more manageable for you, doesn’t it? You wouldn’t want a puppet who suddenly cuts his strings. You need a loyal executor, and that I can be. I’m aware of your ongoing investigation into the explosion incident. Consider me your dedicated soldier. Once we pinpoint the mastermind, I’ll handle them decisively.”

Dani remained calm andposed. “And if the mastermind turns out to be your father?”

Without missing a beat, Kohen asserted, “No matter who it is, they will face justice. Errors must be rectified.”

His eyes alight with fierce determination, hinting at a readiness to act with lethal force.

As Dani sank into silence, Kohen stood stiffly, barely containing his nerves.

“Dani, believe me—I’m the best choice you have. I might not have the elders’ favor like Niks, Charles’ sly wit, Damon’s influential inws, or our father’s backing like Duran. But what I do have is loyalty. I came looking for you in the middle of the night. Isn’t that proof enough of where I stand?”

As he spoke, Kohen slipped a ck card from his pocket and offered it to Dani. “Two hundred million—a small gesture of the respect I have for you.” Everyone knew Hamilton kept his sons’ purse strings tight. That two hundred million? It was nearly all Kohen owned. If nothing else, it was a bold disy of sincerity.

“You should go. I’ll think it over,” Dani said, her tone frosty but calm.

Kohen nodded eagerly. “Of course. I’ll wait for your good news!” He backed away with a courteous bow, a polite smile stered on his face.

Carol nced at Dani. “So, are you actually considering supporting him? Two hundred million is no small show of generosity.”

Dani looked at the card, then spoke tly. “The ones who smile the most often hide the deepest shadows. Kohen’s ambition isn’t as harmless as he makes it sound. If it were, he wouldn’t be the first to knock on my door—or have awork of secret intel hubs already running.”

Carol blinked, surprised. “Do you think he’s worth backing?”
