Chapter 1207

    ?Chapter 1207:

Charles noticed the shift in his tone and said, “Cedric, we’re doing this for both you and us. You’re a good-looking guy, but that leg messes with your image. Even a top executive needs to look the part, don’t you think? And your wife—she’s stunning. Wouldn’t you want to dance with her on a clear, starry night? What if one day she walks away because of it? Wouldn’t that make you want toe back and fight us for what we have?”

Cedric didn’t reply right away. The thought struck something in him. He did want to dance with Dani under the stars.

The three of them picked up on his hesitation. But before any of them could say more, a voice drifted out from inside the vi. “I don’t like dancing.”

All three turned toward the sound, stunned.

Niks called out, “Dani, we’re trying to talk some sense into Cedric. Can’t you support us on this? Don’t you want his leg to heal?”

Kohen added, “It’s a shame to wear such a nice suit when the leg doesn’t match it.”

Charles leaned forward, his voice smooth. “Dani, think about it. A bad leg doesn’t just affect looks. It’ll affect his health too.”

    Dani’s brow tensed slightly.

    The three exchanged hopeful looks.

Charles knew not to push the wrong way in this situation. He softened his tone and smiled. “What handwriting were you talking about?”

    Kohen pulled out his phone.

and tapped the screen. “Take a look at this. Do you recognize the writing? It looks familiar. I know I’ve seen it before.”

Charles gave it a quick nce and shrugged. “I don’t recognize it.”

Dani’s eyes didn’t leave him. She caught the slight shift in his expression.

“You’re sure you don’t recognize it?” Dani asked, her voice cold, eyes locked on his face.

Charles lifted his eyes and collided with Dani’s icy, unblinking stare. A tremor snuck down his spine before he could stop it.

His grip slipped, sshing hot coffee onto his hand and dripping onto the floor.

He snatched a napkin and chuckled awkwardly. “I swear, I’ve never seen that handwriting before. It doesn’t ring a bell.”

Kohen raised an eyebrow at him. “Seriously? Weren’t you the guy bragging about your photographic memory? I’ve seen this handwriting around the office. With your brain, how could you just forget it?”

Charles gulped. “I’m telling you—I don’t recognize it. If I did, I’d admit it without hesitation.”

As he spoke, Charles couldn’t shake the sense that Dani’s sharp stare was slicing straight through him.

    Dani didn’t say a word.

But her silence weighed heavier than words—her stare sharp as a de, making his heart stutter.

Without a flicker of emotion, Dani pulled out a nk sheet and slid it toward Charles, along with a pen. “Write the words on the note.”

Charles stretched a strained smile across his face. “Is that really needed? Do you seriously think I helped Joyce escape and sent her to kill you?”
