?Chapter 1186:
If she could reserve such emotions for him alone, could it be that she truly cared for him, in some small way?
Cedric clung to the hope, his mind scrambling for sce.
Dani froze, unprepared for the rawness in his voice. She then nodded. “Alright—if it makes you happy.”
Cedric’s voice was clear, his words earnest. “Yes, it does.”
Dani agreed without hesitation. “Alright.”
A smile crept across Cedric’s face, and Dani breathed a silent sigh of relief. “Let’s go downstairs for dinner.”
Dani had never imagined Niks would be out of the hospital so quickly.
He had news to share. “My younger brother ising over tomorrow. Can Tasha get a guest room ready?”
Cedric’s brow furrowed.
Dani wasn’t in the mood to entertain them. “This isn’t a hotel, just so you know.”
Niks casually took a bite of his meal. “We’re family. What’s the problem with staying here?”
Dani could sense a shift in Niks—he’d grown even more arrogant since leaving the hospital.
She sneered, her voiceced with contempt. “Niks, is there anything else you’d like to exin? Why don’t you just say everything?”
Niks’ irritation red up immediately. He raised his eyes and locked with Dani’s icy, warning stare. He bit his tongue, keeping his words to himself.
Cedric’s voice cut through the tension. “What family?”
Niks shrugged dismissively. “Nothing. Aren’t we supposed to be working together? Can’t you even give up a room?”
??????????? ????ρ???????? ?????????ν????????????
Dani didn’t even nce at him. “He can stay here, but if he does, you’ll have to go. The choice is yours.”
Niks’ expression darkened.
Dani paused mid-motion, fork in hand. “You still think I’m being too soft? Don’t push me.”
Niks muttered reluctantly, “Fine…”
As soon as dinner was over, Niks made a quick call to his secretary.
“Has Ghost regained consciousness?”
The secretary answered, “He’s just awake.”
Niksmanded, “Put the phone to his ear.”
The phone was held up to Ghost’s ear, and Niks wasted no time.
“Ghost, did you see the leader of Lone Wolf that day? Who are they?”
A heavy silence hung on the other end of the line.
Niks’ patience was wearing thin. “Ghost, speak up. Who hurt you? Was it the leader of Lone Wolf?”
Ghost’s hand quivered slightly as he gripped the phone. Even now, the horrors of that day haunted him like a ghost. Aside from Dani, he had never faced an adversary so formidable. It felt as though every move he made was predicted with uncanny uracy, his every intentionid bare and effortlessly blocked. Around Cedric, Ghost felt exposed—an open book where no secret could remain hidden, and retaliation was an impossible thought. A cold, overwhelming despair flooded him, sinking him deeper into fear.
