?Chapter 1171:
Her exnation left Alexander speechless for a moment.
Niks, observing from a distance, noticed Cedric’s reaction—a mix of surprise and difort.
Alexander’s voice wavered. “So you don’t keep Cedric close out of love, but because…”
Turning to Cedric, who stood quietly aside, he continued, “You feel indebted to him.”
Without showing much feeling, Dani met Alexander’s eyes. “This isn’t your concern anymore. Are you going to leave on your own, or do I need to call security?”
Feeling defeated, Alexander turned to leave.
As he walked away, he said, “One day, Dani, you’ll understand that no one in this world loves you more than I do. Cedric sacrificed his leg for you, but I would sacrifice my life. My love is the deepest.”
With those final words, Alexander exited, his spirit crushed.
Dani returned her attention to her paperwork, seemingly unaffected.
Niks watched Cedric’s expression, a slight smile forming on his lips. He then moved quietly to stand by Cedric’s side.
Cedric caught a glimpse of Niks’ face, lit up with mischief.
“Did you catch that?” Niks said, unable to hide his excitement. “Dani admitted she keeps you around only because she feels guilty about your injury. She doesn’t really love you.”
Cedric’s eyes widened slightly. This notion had crossed his mind before, but to hear it confirmed by Dani herself was still a jolt to his heart.
Niks observed the shift in Cedric’s demeanor, his smirk growing wider. “It’s clear, Cedric, that love built on guilt isn’t sustainable. You must see that, right?”

Looking back at Niks slowly, Cedric questioned, “And why does this concern you? What interest do you have in my marriage? What’s your angle?”
Laughing softly, Niks responded, “Why would I scheme anything? We’re about to be business partners. I just don’t want you tangled in feelings that aren’t reciprocated.”
“Really?” Cedric’s response was cold as he met Niks’ gaze.
“Absolutely.” Niks affirmed with a nod. “Think about it, isn’t it somewhat cruel to cling to someone out of guilt? Dani acts so detached, it’s clear she’s not invested in love. Isn’t it unjust to impose such a burden on her?”
Niks’ eyes gleamed with mischief as he noticed the clouded expression on Cedric’s face. He murmured, “True love allows her the choice, doesn’t it?”
Cedric’s response was a heavy silence.
Niks couldn’t resist tending the fire further. “Just let her go, and if she returns, she’s yours. Are you brave enough to test that with Dani, Cedric? Or does fear betray your weakness?”
A sharp re from Cedric cut through the tension. “Your provocations won’t work on me.”
He then left Dani’s office briskly.
Though he dismissed Niks’ insinuations as trivial, deep down they stirred doubts.
