?Chapter 1751:
As for the police… Harlee had already made certain arrangements, ensuring the local police chief would overlook anything Virginia did short of homicide. So, the officers diligently focused on their other duties.
Finally, Harlee intervened.
“That’s enough. Virginia, if you continue, you’ll only wear yourself out.”
Engulfed by her fury, Virginia was undeterred, and Jianna had to restrain her. Virginia yelled, “Don’t hold me back! I need to make Hazel pay for all the harm she’s caused our vige!” But Jianna’s strength easily overpowered Virginia’s.
Hazel, battered and humiliated,y bruised and swollen. She had never endured such disgrace, especially not from someone she looked down upon. Consumed by hatred, she wished she could exact lethal revenge on Virginia.
Fueled by fury, Hazel struggled to her feet. Disregarding the arson investigation and the prospect of imprisonment, she was driven by a singr desire—to beat Virginia to death.
As Jianna intervened, pulling Virginia back, the moment of calm was shattered when Hazel lunged forward, aiming the sharp end of her handcuffs at Virginia’s abdomen with tremendous force.
“Watch out!” Jianna’s reflexes kicked in. She yanked Virginia to safety and retaliated with a forceful kick to Hazel’s midsection.
This kick, fueled by full strength, sent Hazel hurtling backward.
Eloise, previously keeping her distance, was propelled into action by her maternal instincts. She dashed forward to shield Hazel, berating Jianna, “How can you be so cruel? My daughter was just defending herself! How dare you attack her like this?”
The turmoil blinded Eloise to her own vulnerability as a suspect.

Earlier, Eloise had distinctly observed Jianna’s lethal intent, scarcely masked. Had it not been for the soft sofa breaking Hazel’s fall, she might have suffered severe injuries.
It was unthinkable to Eloise that someone would attempt murder in a police station. She intended to leverage the incident to sway public opinion and extricate her family from the predicament. With this thought, a calcting glint appeared in her eyes.
However, Eloise failed to recognize that the person responsible for her family’s predicament would never allow her an opportunity to save herself.
“You still have the nerve to yell at people?” Virginia retorted, anger ring.
“Eloise, you’re the cruel one here. You allowed your daughter to destroy the ce you once called home. You’re the real monster!”
Eloise’s face contorted with rage.
“I am your aunt! Where are your manners? How dare you speak to me like that? Is this what your mother taught you?”
Before Virginia could respond, Eloise continued, “You’re only bold because you have backing. But remember, even the powerful must obey thew. You assaulted my daughter in a police station. I’ll see you all in prison!”
Virginia felt a surge of intimidation, concerned about dragging Harlee and the others into trouble.
“Did anyone actually see us do anything?” Harlee smirked, giving Emanuel and Eloise a dismissive nce that sent a jolt through them, their hearts racing.
Eloise turned to gesture at the nearby officers for support, but they averted their gazes, leaving her in a sudden state of panic. What kind of influence did this woman wield?
Harlee rose from her chair and approached Hazel. In the bewildered silence of the onlookers, she administered a pill to Hazel, dering, “See? She’s fine.”
Momentster, Hazel, who had been unconscious from the kick, abruptly woke up, her expression easing significantly.
Turning to a nearby officer, Harlee said, “Tell your chief I appreciate the favor. I’ll send him a generous giftter.”
With that, Harlee nonchntly led Virginia out, ignoring the Wace family as if the visit was merely a casual outing. Indeed, Harlee had brought Virginia here to beat Hazel up.
