She really needed to head out, so she started upstairs to change her clothes.
Gideon and Yvette stood there, clueless about Calliope''s intentions. They hadn''t heard her say yes, so they refused to leave just yet.
Calliope quickly changed and came back down. Seeing the two still there, she said casually, "If you guys aren''t leaving, then I am."
"Callie!" Gideon pleaded earnestly, "Can''t you help me out? For old times'' sake, when you really liked me? Please? I know Uncle Ss is thinking about changing his sessor, but Calista is still young! I''m the most suitable! Please, talk to him!"
Calliope gave Gideon a quick nce. "I actually think Calista is quite suitable."
Gideon''s face fell instantly. "What do you mean by that? Are you saying I''m less capable than a high schooler?"
Calliope nodded. "Calista is more qualified to manage the Baker Group. Ss isn''t blind-he can see it. If I can see it, surely he can too.
Gideon, your real concern shouldn''t be whether you''ll be the head of the Baker Group. It''s whether you''re even going to remain there much longer! Ss has been more than lenient with you. He hasn''t even kicked you out of thepany!"
Calliope chuckled lightly. "From what I know, he doesn''t keep dead weight around!"
Gideon''s face turned even darker. "Are you calling me dead weight?"
"If you''re begging me for help, how are you any different? If you weren''t dead
weight, you''d be proving yourself to Ss on your own."
Calliope slipped on her shoes, turned and headed for the door.
Yvette, fuming, lunged at Calliope, but Calliope easily caught her wrist.
"Yvette, instead of losing your temper here, maybe you should go take care of your health! You might want to ask your doctor if you''ll ever be able to have kids."
She released Yvette''s wrist.
Yvette looked at Calliope, trembling. "What are you saying? Are you cursing me, Calliope?"
"Do I need to? Aren''t you already on a self-destructive path?"
Calliope nced at Yvette''s
mon. "Think about it-howet
would your mother-inw react if you Could never have children?"
Yvette staggered, almost losing her bnce.
Calliope grabbed her car keys and turned back, saying, "My apologies, I''ve got to head to the Jewell Group. No time to y with you guys!"
IMS
She left quickly. The sound of the engine roared as her car sped away.
Yvette and Gideon stood at the doorway, looking as if their world had just copsed. They left the Myers Manor in a daze.
Yvette headed to the hospital, while Gideon made a beeline for Baker Group''s headquarters.
In the Baker Group building, Gideon stormed up to Ss''s office door.
"Mr. Myers is busy right now. Please wait a moment," Fagan said coolly.
"I need to see Uncle Ss right now! Let me in!" Gideon demanded urgently, shoving past Fagan. Fagan shrugged helplessly.
Ss''s voice came from inside the office. "Let him in."
Gideon pushed the door open eagerly, but as soon as he did, he froze in the doorway. He stared at Ss, unable to believe what he was seeing.
