Watching from the sidelines, Damien finally began to grasp what was happening.
ck Spider wasn''t just one person-there were two distinct personalities living inside him, switching back and forth with a starkness that was almost frightening.
A moment ago, he''d been all lethal menace, cold and cruel. Now, though, his whole demeanor was gentler, even a little endearing. The face hadn''t changed, but the difference was impossible to miss—so striking, it left Damien at a loss for words.
After a while, Damien lowered his voice and asked, "So... does he have dissociative identity disorder?"
Calliope nodded. "He has multiple personalities. Jasper, the one you saw before, is his second—and he''s definitely the more dangerous one. There are other personalities, too, each with their own quirks. I tried some alternative therapy in the past. It worked for a while they went quiet for some time—but eventually, the others surfaced again. His case is unusuallyplex, so he''s never been fully cured."
ck Spider, standing nearby, offered Calliope a shy, apologetic smile. "I''m sorry for causing you so much trouble," he said quietly.
Calliope shook her head. "It''s not your fault. Don''t me yourself. This whole thing was just an ident. I''m d you''re back, but honestly, it seems your condition is worse than before. Has Jasper gotten stronger?"
He nodded. "He has. The others barely appear anymore, but Jasperes out a lot. I usually have no memory of anything he does. I have to rely on my people to fill
in the gaps after the fact.” He rubbed his brow, frustration etched across his features. "I wish I could control it. But I can''t."
"Do you know what triggers him?" Calliope asked gently.
"I''m not sure. Jean never remember. And I have no idea how to keep him in check." ck Spider looked up at her, pain in his eyes. "He''s so unstable that I''m always worried He''ll do something terrible he'' just keep himself together, maybe it wouldn''t be so bad. But all he ever does is make trouble."

After a heavy silence, he looked at Calliope, his voice barely above a whisper. "Calliope... is there any way to get rid of him? For good?"
He was desperate. Jasper had already caused serious harm before, and ck Spider lived in dread of what his other self might do next. Thistest chaos— kidnapping her friends-was just thetest disaster.
Calliope hesitated, then shook her head. "It would be very difficult. Still, your condition is serious. We''ll have to try something."
Nigel, who had been enduring all this in silence, finally mustered up the courage to ask, "Um... can I change out of these clothes now?"
He''d been forced into an absurd getup by a split personality. He always suspected there was something strange about ck Spider, but he never expected anything like this.
"Oh! Of course I''m really sorry about that!" ck Spider said
quickly. "He must have drugged you to make you put them on. Let me have someone show you where you can change back into your own clothes." He immediately called over an attendant to escort Nigel out.
Nigel looked like he wanted to curse out the whole room but kept quiet as he left, his entourage trailing after him to change.
Meanwhile, Calliope sat down with ck Spider, trying to get a clearer picture of his recent episodes while she quietly considered possible treatment options.
"Maybe you''d better tie me up," ck Spider suggested. "I''m barely in contro right now-a switch could
UT
happen at any moment. And Jaspers good at pretending. He might try to act like me, just to get close and hurt you."
