Chapter 752

She felt a little down. She''d always thought he remembered the kindness she''d shown him in the past.

But honestly, she knew he hadn''t forgotten; it was just that they hadn''t spent much time together thesest few years. That was probably why he hadn''t treated her any differently.

Once they started seeing each other more, he''d remember how good she''d been to him.

Blythe narrowed her eyes, a mix of hope and excitement bubbling up inside her. Who was Calliope, anyway? There was no way she couldpete with Blythe. Blythe was, after all, the only daughter in the White family. Sure, she was adopted, but since the White''s biological daughter had passed away, everything in that family now belonged to Blythe. She was the heir.

Someday, Ss would realize just how impressive she was, how much she could offer him-things Calliope could never even dream of.

As for Calliope? Please. Blythe knew that the Jewell family supporting her was a joke. Totally useless!

"Callie, aren''t you going to ask why I helped that woman back there?"

After they walked away from the crowd, Ss couldn''t help but ask Calliope, a hint of unease in his voice.

"Hm?" Calliope nced at Ss. "Do I need a reason? If someone needs help, you just jump in. That''s totally normal, isn''t it? I would''ve done the same!"

She shrugged, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "That mugger looked like bad news from a mile away."

"Helping people out just feels good, you know?" Calliope said it as if it barely mattered.

Ss looked at her for a moment, like he wanted to say something, but ended up keeping quiet.

He didn''t want her to know too much, no point ruining her mood. They were out to have fun, after all. Even if she inevitably ran into Oliver, he''d do his best to steer clear or at least buy them some time.

"What''s up?" Calliope asked. "Something on your mind?"

"Nope!" Ss grinned. "Oh, by the way, Uriah said he wasing. Wonder if he''s here yet."

    "Really?" Calliope raised an eyebrow.

"Last I heard, Norton was with Mavis... Wonder what Uriah''s

do if he sees that. You think be''ll get jealous?"

"I honestly have no idea," Ss shook his head. “He keeps his feelings pretty

    locked up around me."

    "Not even to you?"

"Nope." Ss cupped Calliope''s face in his hands, smiling. "And just so you know, I''m not keeping secrets Youe first. Bros are for

    for him.

throwing under the bus, anyway. Especially if it''s for my wife!"

"If Uriah heard you say that, he''d probably punch you!" Calliope burst outughing.

"He can''t hear me!" Ssughed back.

"Oh, I can''t huh? And here I was thinking my hearing was just fine Uriah strode up just in time to catch thest bit about throwing friends under the bus. His handsome face darkened instantly. ''

He stared at Ss, incredulous. “You know I''ve always had your back, and this is how you treat me? Some friend!"

He huffed. “Forget it, I''m going to find Mavis. Where is she?"

Calliope shot Uriah a long look, clearly realizing he hadn''t heard the earlier part of their conversation. He had no idea that Mavis was off with Norton.

"No clue, we got separated," Calliope replied, all innocence.

"Seriously?" Uriah eyed her, suspicious she was just covering for Mavis.

"Honestly, I have no idea," Ss chimed in, putting on his most sincere face. "If I knew, I''d tell you. My wife never lies!"
