Chapter 742

"I know, right?" Calliope shrugged. "I said what needed to be said. Whether they have the kid or not, that''s their business."

She did feel bad for the baby, but after seeing how Gideon and the others acted, she could tell they didn''t trust her one bit.

So, fine. If that''s how they wanted it, she''d just pretend she didn''t know anything.

"They kinda brought this on themselves anyway." Ss frowned, clearly feeling a little sorry for the kid. "We can''t really do much. It''s up to them now. If they regret itter, that''s on them."

Calliope''s tone was t, almost dismissive. "Exactly."

Suddenly, something seemed to click in her mind. She turned to Ss. "Let''s take a trip! And invite Uriah, too."

Ss''s face immediately soured. "Why drag him along? I was hoping for some alone time with you, but now you want to call in the whole squad, including Uriah?"

Calliope grinned slyly. "I want to tell him that Norton''s nning to ask Mavis out."

Ss lookedpletely thrown. "Wait, what? You''re trying to get a rise out of Uriah? Norton doesn''t even like Mavis, does he?"

"Nope," Calliope replied with a littleugh. “Norton sees Mavis like a little sister. This is just for show."

She suddenly shot Ss a sharp look. "I probably shouldn''t have told you all that. You''re not going to go bbing to Uriah, are you?"

Ss quickly waved his hands in surrender. "No way! I''d never. I''m on your side, babe. If you say keep it quiet, my lips are sealed!"

    Calliope finally rxed. "Good."

"Leave Uriah to me," Ss said. "I''ll give him a call in a bit."

"Make sure hees!" Calliope squinted at him, searching his face. "You think he''ll react?"

She knew Ss and Uriah were close. If anyone besides Uriah knew his feelings, it''d be Ss.

    Ss hesitated, t

    then admitted

honestly, "I think he does care about

    Mavis... but he''s such a

stick-in-the-mud. He still sees her as his student, and I think he believes her having feelings for him is just her being confused. He thinks a mentor shouldn''t cross that line. And honestly, he''s got all this baggage. He worries he''d just drag Mavis down."

Ss shrugged. "But I''m pretty sure if someone else tried to date her, he''d freak out."

Calliope''s eyes lit up with hope. "That''s what I wanted to hear."

Ss held up his hands, nervous. "But hey, I''m just guessing here this att blows up, don''t me me,

    Say?" nov

He really didn''t want to take the fall for this. If Uriah messed it up, that was his own fault.

Calliope gaye Ss a long look. "If Uriah screws this up and breaks Mavis''s heart, I''m totally ming you too. You''re his best friend, so you''re obviously part of the O problem!"

Ss groaned. "Come on, that''s not fair. You''d throw me under the bus for your bestie?"

"Mavis means a lot to me!" Calliope said seriously. "Guyse and go, but a best friend is forever."

Ss''s jaw dropped. "Guyse and go? Wait, so I''m receable now?"

He put his hand to his heart. "Babe, that''s harsh. I thought I was one of a kind!"
