Chapter 675

As soon as Calliope heard her phone buzzing nonstop, she fished it out of her purse. Every single message was from Gideon.

She couldn''t help but roll her eyes. ncing over in Gideon''s direction, she wondered what the heck was wrong with him.

Honestly, she''d never realized just how nuts Gideon could be.

Without another thought, Calliope blocked his number.

Gideon, meanwhile, frowned when his texts suddenly wouldn''t go through. He shot a look toward Calliope, convinced that her blocking him meant she still cared. In some twisted way, that made perfect sense to him.

Of course, Calliope had no idea that Gideon''s mind worked in such a bizarre way.

Just then, Calista came over, needing to talk to Calliope about something, so he pulled her outside for a quick chat.

After a few minutes, Calista''s eyes lit up, like he''d just solved a riddle.

"Thanks, Aunt Callie, that makes so much sense now!"

He looked positively relieved and motioned for Calliope to head back in with her.

But, right on cue, Gideon rolled out.

"Calista, head back inside, will you? I need a word with Callie," he said.

Calista didn''t look thrilled about leaving Calliope alone with him. He hesitated, ncing between the two of them.

"It''s fine, Calista," Calliope reassured him. "I''ll be okay. Go on inside."

"Alright," Calista said, giving Gideon a pointed look before turning back to Calliope. "Aunt Callie, if you need anything, just holler. I''ll be right by the door."

    "Got it," Calliope nodded.

Only then did Calista leave, but not without shooting Gideon a warning re. Gideon, sitting in his wheelchair, gazed up at Calliope. "Callie, you still care about me, don''t you? Blocking my number is just proof I''m still on your mind."

Calliope stared at him like he''d grown a second head. "Who told you blocking someone meant you cared about them? That''s just... idiotic."

"Did you hurt your brain as well as your leg?" she added, shaking her head.

"Listen, Gideon, I''m just giving you a heads-up. Don''te crying to meter if things go south."

She softened for a moment, her tone turning serious. "Yvette''s baby, well, there''s a good chance something''s wrong. I can''t say for sure what, not yet, but I''d bet money that child''s going to have issues."

She didn''t much care for Gideon and his family, but this was about an innocent child. She couldn''t keep quiet.

"Given your family''s track record, I doubt you''d treat a kid with special needs right. So, maybe it''s better to face it now rather than after the baby''s born."

"What do you mean, something''s wrong?! My grandchild is perfectly fine!" A new voice cut in. Fleur, Gideon''s mother, stormed out, face flushed with anger. She fixed Calliope with a cold stare. "You just can''t let Gideon go, can you? Is that why you''re saying this, to mess with us?"

Calliope burst outughing, unable to believe what she was hearing. "Me, obsessed with Gideon? Are you kidding me?"

She shook her head, exasperated. "Look, Fleur, your son is nothing special I''m just being decent by warning you. Do what you want with it. But don''t me me if things go wrongter."

Yvette hovered in the background, biting her lip.

"Aunt Callie, is it because you don''t want me to have Gideon''s baby?" she asked

    quietly.
