He was clearly a bit uneasy, worried she might not believe him.
Honestly, Calliope found it kind of funny.
"Rx," she said, grinning. "I don''t think your taste is that questionable."
No matter how hard Yvette tried, there was just no way Ss would ever be interested in her. Calliope was absolutely sure of it.
Besides, Ss was no fool. If Yvette imed she had a secret, Ss wouldn''t just take her word for it. He''d dig for the truth himself. He wasn''t the type to just walk straight into her little trap.
"Anyway, what did you mean by ''being prepared''?" Calliope asked, curiosity getting the better of her. Ss had imed he was ready for anything, but so far, she hadn''t really seen any proof of that.
"Don''t tell me you''re just relying on brute strength? No backup n?" she teased, giving him a skeptical look. He did have a bit of that swagger, but it just didn''t make sense. After all, he seemed to have zero respect for Yvette.
"You''ll see soon enough. Someone''s already waiting for us," Ss replied, shing her a secretive smile.
They strolled into the hotel lobby, and suddenly, everything clicked for Calliope. She spotted a familiar figure across the room-so familiar, in fact, that for a moment she thought she was seeing double.
The man''s back was identical to Ss''s, and when he turned around, Calliope''s jaw nearly dropped. He looked exactly like Ss. The resemnce was uncanny.
"Holy crap... Where''d you find a body double who''s basically your clone?" Calliope gasped. If she hadn''t been holding Ss''s hand since they walked in, she honestly wouldn''t have known which one was real.
Same haircut, same sharp suit, same facial expression, even the way he moved was eerily simr.
"Are you two twins or something?" she asked, ncing back and forth between them. Even for twins, this level of likeness was rare.
"Nope," Ss replied, barely ncing up. "He''s using some pretty advanced disguise tech. Pretty impressive, huh? Can''t tell us apart, can you?"
"Not at all," Calliope admitted, still stunned. "That''s... honestly amazing. What kind of disguise is this?"
They walked over to the double, who nodded politely at Ss. "Mr. Myers."
Then he turned to Calliope and greeted her with a formal, "Ma''am."
She blinked. "You know me?"
"He''s been around the Myers estate for a white," Ss exined. "You just never noticed. I actually have two Stand-ins on staff. Sometimes I need them."
Calliope raised an eyebrow. "What kind of situations would you need a double for?"
Ss shrugged. "Like tonight, for example."
The more Calliope thought about it, the more sense it made. With Ss''s position and the amount of trouble that seemed to follow him, it was only logical to have this kind of precaution.
After exchanging a few words with Ss, the double got a room number and headed off.
Ss led Calliope to the lounge area in the lobby, where they took a seat. He pulled out a tablet and opened up an app, then did the same with his phone.
"She wants to y dirty, so let''s give her a show," Ss said, ncing at Calliope with a smirk. "He''s wired up with a camera. We can watch everything live."
Calliope couldn''t help butugh, shaking her head in disbelief. "You really do think
of everything, don''t you?"
