"I''m gonna kick Calliope out and get with Ss myself, just you watch!" Yvette shot Gideon a smug look as she spoke, practically glowing with confidence.
"Gideon, rx. If I ever hit it big, I''ll remember to thank you. If it wasn''t for you being my stepping stone, I''d never have gotten close to Ss in the first ce!"
Just thinking about the possibility of Ssing to see her made her giddy. She''d have to find a way to reel him in somehow.
Yvette was always pretty sure of her looks, and she knew men are at their most reckless when they''re disappointed. She''d even bought a little something special —a kind of "magic potion" if you will. Just a few drops of it in the room would have Ss wrapped around her finger, she was certain.
At first, Gideon didn''t quite understand what she was saying. He was used to Yvette iming she had feelings for him, so hearing her suddenly talk about going after Ss left him totally stunned. It took him a good minute to really process what she''d said.
He stared at Yvette, disbelief all over his face. "What did you just say? You want to seduce Uncle Ss?"
"Yvette, are you out of your mind? You''re my wife, and you want to go after my uncle? What the hell is wrong with you?"
He shot her a look up and down, as if seeing her for the first time.
"You really think Ss would go for you? Do you think he''s blind? Or just in stupid?"
The more he looked at her, the more ridiculous the whole thing seemed. He realized now that Yvette had never really cared about him; she''d only been with him because she thought it''d get her closer to his family''s money. Now that she saw he had nothing, she was ready to jump ship and set her sights on Ss.
Calliope was prettier, more capable, and came from a better family, but somehow Yvette thought she couldpete?
Gideon almost burst outughing.
"You really think you''re in the same league as Calliope? Ss isn''t some pig whe eat whatever''s put in front
of him, you know. He''s pickier than anyone I''ve ever met."
"Yvette, you''re gonna get yourself in a world of trouble if you keep this up. You''re gonna regret it, big time. Forget Ss, Callie alone could tear you apart."
Gideon had seen firsthand how formidable Calliope could be. Watching Yvette strut around like she had it all figured out was honestly just...pathetic.
"She?" Yvette scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Sure, she can try to mess with me, but can she handle Ss? You really think I don''t have a n?"
She looked at Gideon, cool as ever. "I
don''t go into anything unprepared.
Ss is as good as mine. And the only reason I''m telling you all this is because you''re stuck here, helpless. Even if you tried to call someone, nobody would believe you Trust me."
Gideon let out a lowugh, shaking his head. "Yeah, no one would believe me. But you''re still not gonna get what you want. You''re the dumbest woman I''ve ever met."
He couldn''t be bothered to argue anymore.
...
Meanwhile, Calliope didn''t even consider Yvette a threat. She''d already left the hospital, not giving Yvette''s antics a second thought.
But while Calliope didn''t care, someone else clearly did. Ss called just as she was heading home.
"Where are you?" he asked, his voice tense.
"I stopped by the hospital," Calliope replied lightly.
"You haven''t left yet?" Ss pressed, a frown in his tone. “What were you doing
there? Did you see Gideon?"
