Stewart, who had leaned in to say something, happened to see the message on her screen. He was stunned. "Put the divorce on hold for a while? What does he mean by that?" Did this mean Thorne didn''t want to divorce her anymore?
"No," Charlene said calmly, knowing what he was thinking. "It''s for Minnie''s sake."
"She found out you''re getting a divorce?"
"Not exactly..." Charlene briefly exined the situation.
Stewart was silent for a long moment. "And you? What do you think?" he finally asked. He was honestly surprised that Thorne would consider postponing the divorce for his child''s well-being. It seemed he truly cared about their daughter. If Thorne could put it on hold for Jasmine, then of course she could too. But still... She hesitated for a moment before texting Thorne back.
[I''ll think about it.]
He replied almost immediately.
[Okay.]
Around noon, Charlene and Stewart received a text from Kenton Wagner. Abrd Ramirez wanted to invite them over to his home for dinner that evening and was asking if they were free. Thest time Charlene was at the base, she had helped Abrd with something, and he had mentioned wanting to treat her to a meal.
Both of them quickly replied to Kenton, epting the invitation.
After work, as they were leaving The Henderson Group to head to the Ramirez residence, they saw Thorne and Vesta downstairs.
Thorne spotted them and called out, "Aren''t you staying for dinner?"
Stewart curled his lip, shooting a nce at Vesta before replying with a hint of sarcasm, "No, thanks. We have ns."
Charlene said nothing, avoiding eye contact with either of them as she and Stewart got into their car and left.
It was Charlene''s first time visiting the Ramirez family home. As their car pulled into the courtyard, someone came out to greet them: Dalton Ramirez.
Dalton knew his father had invited Kenton and Hickey Watson for dinner. When he heard the car, Abrd had asked him to wee the guests. He''d assumed it was Stewart but he was surprised to see it was Stewart... and Charlene. She was here too.
His expression immediately turned cold. Stewart noticed the change and crossed his arms with a smirk. "Well now. I can feel the warm wee, Mr. Ramirez."
The coldness in Dalton''s expression softened slightly. "Not at all, Mr. Ferguson. You''re overthinking it." He then nced at Charlene. "Please,e in."
Stewart scoffed under his breath and walked inside with Charlene.
Abrd stood up warmly when he saw Charlene. "Charlene, Stewart, you''re here! Please, have a seat."
"Mr. Ramirez," they said in unison.
Abrd smiled and nodded, then noticed Dalton standing by with sullen look on his face. "What are you standing there for? Go and re for so and make some tea for our guests."
Dalton didn''t respond but quietly went to prepare the tea. After he finished, however, Abrd took the cup from him and personally served it to Charlene Please have some, tea, Charlene. Thank you for all your help the other day."
Dalton froze, watching in confusion as Charlene epted the cup. "You''re too kind,
Mr. Ramirez. I was just doing my job."
"But you still helped me a great deal," Abrd said with a smile.
Dalton frowned.
