Chapter 1734:
Before Belinda could respond, Bethany interjected firmly, “It’s decided then! Don’t worry; I’ll make sure she protects her hand over the next few days.”
“Very well,” the doctor replied with a gentle smile.
As they walked out of the doctor’s office, Bethany turned to Belinda and said, “Come on, I’m going with you to your department to ensure you take leave tomorrow.”<fne0ac> Latest content published on f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?</fne0ac>
Belinda gave a resigned smile, saying, “Fine, I’ll skip tomorrow’s surgery. I’ll ask the department’s deputy director to cover for me.”
Bethany gave an approving nod. “That’s the spirit. But words alone won’t cut it — I’ming upstairs with you to make sure you hand over the case.”
Understanding Bethany’s concern for her, Belinda didn’t argue and simply agreed, “Okay, I’ll do as you say. But first, let’s head—” Her words were cut short by a frantic, raspy shout. “Belinda!”
Turning toward the voice, Belinda spotted Lucas rushing toward her, his expression etched with worry.
When he reached her, he enveloped her in an embrace, holding her so tightly that it seemed he wanted to meld her into his very being.
Belinda could sense that he was very worried about her.
She returned his embrace, wrapping her arms around him in reassurance. Only then, enveloped in theforting strength of his warm hold, did she feel her racing heart finally calm down.
Although she had acted bravely earlier, deep down, she had been gripped by fear.
After all, she had been facing ruthless robbers who wouldn’t have hesitated to take her life.
Until that moment, Belinda still couldn’tprehend where she had discovered the courage to charge forward like that before.
After holding each other close for several heartbeats, Belinda and Lucas remembered they were standing in a public space, so they reluctantly released their embrace.

Lucas grasped Belinda’s hand and guided her toward a bench positioned on the quieter side of the area.
He held her hand tightly, his voice trembling with worry as he asked, “Where did you get hurt?”
“I’mpletely unharmed. Just look at me right now—I’m bursting with vitality and absolutely fine!” Belinda responded with hasty reassurance.
Bethany spoke up. “Her wrist underwent a CT scan just moments ago, and we’re still waiting for the results to determine if there’s any real damage. Either way, the doctor instructed her to monitor her hand vigntly over the next few days—no heavy lifting and no rapid or repetitive movements.”
Lucas gazed intently at Belinda, his expression growing dark.
Belinda looked a bit uneasy and whispered, “I honestly think my wrist is perfectly fine. Please don’t worry about me.”
Lucas drew in a long, steadying breath and said in a serious tone, “Tell me everything that happened.”
Belinda nodded andunched into recounting the entire incident to Lucas with careful precision.
