Chapter 1725

    ?Chapter 1725:

After a beat, she asked, “So, how did Lucas react when you told him that?”

Belinda gave a small shrug. “As you’d expect, he didn’t believe it at first. But once I exined my suspicions and reminded him of how I’d questioned Harold that day, he started to waver. So, he immediately had someone look into Georgie—how she had gotten pregnant back then, or if she had even been pregnant at all.”

Bethany pressed her lips together, deep in thought, then said, “Whether Faye and Lucas are truly blood rtives is still a big question mark. But some of her actions are definitely odd. I mean, what kind of niece keepspeting with her uncle’s girlfriend for his attention? That is absurd. She’spletely lost her mind!”

She rolled her eyes as she spoke.

“To be honest, the truth is already pretty clear. Just yesterday, Lucas tested Faye,” Belinda said, her expression turningplicated.

Bethany sat up straighter when she heard that, intrigued. “How? Don’t keep me in suspense—tell me everything!”

Belinda, looking a bit resigned, recounted the events of the previous night. By the end of it, Bethany’s expression had twisted in pure disgust, as though she’d just tasted something foul.

“Faye really is crazy!” she eximed, shaking her head. “She probably thought that just because Lucas was drunk, she could do whatever she wanted to him. Thank goodness Lucas pretended to wake up when he did. Otherwise, who knows what Faye might have done to him?”

Belinda let out a weary sigh. “He was so repulsed by what had happened that he barely slept a winkst night.”

“I understand him perfectly,” Bethany replied. “He’s always treated Faye like family, only to find out she’s been hiding these sick thoughts about him all along, and to make matters worse, she actually touched his face while he slept…” Bethany visibly shuddered with revulsion.

“Anyone would be disgusted by that,” she said.

Just imagining the scene gave her goosebumps.

Belinda asked calmly, “Don’t you think Faye’s actions have already made things pretty clear?”<fn5758> Chapters first released on Find?Novel</fn5758>

Bethany nodded without hesitation. “Exactly! What kind of niece would sneak a touch like that while her uncle was asleep? She clearly has feelings for Lucas.”

Taking a steadying breath, Bethany pressed on with her analysis. “Our earlier guesses seem spot-on, don’t they? It’s clear Faye has feelings for Lucas. And they are not rted by blood, which Faye must have known all along. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have developed feelings for him.”

After a brief pause, Belinda said thoughtfully, “Still, this is just our theory for now. Whether they are truly rted by blood… We will know once the investigation into Georgiees up with something.”

Bethany gave a nod, then said, “You’re right. But maybe this situation could jolt Lucas into being more cautious around Faye. That wouldn’t hurt. From the start, he has beenpletely unguarded with her. If Faye had any shady motives, like slipping something into his drink, it would be way too easy for her to pull it off. As long as she’s got those kinds of feelings for him, we can’t entirely dismiss the risk. Staying sharp and keeping his defenses up is the smartest move for him.”

Belinda’s brow creased at Bethany’s words, a wave of difort washing over her as she grappled with the unsettling idea.
