Chapter 1722

    ?Chapter 1722:

Belinda squeezed his hand, her tone steady as she said, “Based on Faye’s recent actions and that question she asked you before, I’m starting to think that her identity isn’t as simple as it seems. I suspect she has known for a while that she’s not your niece by blood. That might exin why she has developed feelings for you and wants to test your reaction to that matter.”

Lucas went quiet, a sickening wave of disgust washing over him. The niece he had always treated as family actually had feelings for him?

    It was unthinkable.

He didn’t know how he should face Faye from now on.

    Just then, his phone rang.

Lucas nced at the screen, checked the caller ID, and swiped to answer the call. “Hello.”

“How did things turn out?” Johnson’s voice crackled through the line, warm but edged with concern.

Lucas exhaled sharply, his fingers raking through his hair. “Not great. Faye had the nerve to touch my face. Can you believe it?” His voice trembled with barely contained irritation.

Hearing this, Johnson stayed silent for a while before muttering, “Belinda and the others were right! Women’s intuition is really something else.” After a pause, he asked, “So, what is your next move?”

“I will wait for the investigation to wrap up before I decide anything,” Lucas said, his voice low.

    “Alright,” Johnson replied.

They exchanged a few more words before the call ended.

Later, fresh from a scalding shower, Lucas copsed onto the bed. He tossed and turned, his mind a storm of frustration.<fn9224> Get full chapters from Find[?]ovel</fn9224>

Belinda turned beside him. “Don’t dwell on the matter,” she murmured, her voice soft but firm as she patted his back. “It already happened. We will face it when we need to.”

Lucas let out a quiet sigh, his arm reaching out to pull her close. “Let’s just go to sleep.”

    The next day,

Lucas trudged into the office, dark circles evident under his eyes.

Back at home, Belinda was free from work for the day. Her fingers hovered over her phone, reying the piano recording Jazmine had sent her. She tilted her head, listening intently, her brow furrowing as she noted a missed chord.

    In the Wright family house,

Elwood was in his room when his phone rang with a call from his assistant. He answered the call quickly.

His assistant’s voice came through. “Mr. Wright, I dug into Car’s past as you asked. Her romantic history before marriage? Completely erased. Whoever did it was meticulous—no traces left. We came up empty.”

Elwood’s face darkened at that, his grip tightening on the phone.

He did not need a report to know his mother was behind it.
