Chapter 1677

    ?Chapter 1677:

In a bustling diner glowing with warm lights, Belinda treated Barbara to a meal after leaving the amusement park.

Halfway through their meal, Lucas joined them. Barbara observed closely as Lucas doted on Belinda. She finally understood what Belinda had told her before—Belinda and Lucas were indeed very happy together.

After the meal, Lucas and Belinda drove Barbara back to the Wright family’s residence. As Barbara hopped out of the car, she spun around to look at Belinda, her face alight with gratitude. “Belinda, today was incredible! Thanks for hanging out with me. Can we do it again soon?”

Her wide eyes shimmered with eager anticipation.

“Definitely,” Belinda replied with a warm nod.

“Great!” Barbara’s grin stretched ear to ear as she practically bounced with excitement. She started toward the house but halted mid-step as if a sudden thought had just struck her. Walking back to the car, she fixed her gaze on Lucas in the driver’s seat, her expression shifting to one of fierce resolve. “Hey, Mr. rk, listen up. If you ever dare hurt Belinda, the whole Wright family will make you wish you hadn’t, especially me!”

She punctuated her warning by flexing her skinny arms, the gesture almostical.

Lucas let out a heartyugh. Then his face turned serious. “No need to worry, Barbara. That’ll never happen,” he assured her, his voice steady and sincere.

“You’d better mean it!” Barbara tossed him a skeptical nce, huffing dramatically before strutting off toward the house.

Lucas turned to Belinda, his eyebrow arching yfully. “Looks like you’ve got quite the support now.”

Belinda lifted her eyebrows, a smug smile curling at the corners of her lips. “Just remember that,” she said, her voice dripping with yful warning. “Let’s see if you’ve got the guts to mess with me again.”

Lucas’ hands shot up in surrender, his words tumbling out in a hurried rush. “I wouldn’t even dream of it.”

Belinda chuckled, the sound light and teasing. “Alright, let’s head back.”

Lucas nodded. “Okay.” He then fired up the engine and pulled smoothly onto the road.

During the drive, he nced over at Belinda and asked, “So, where did you and Barbara go today? You seemed to have been out all day.”

Belinda’s eyes lit up with a soft smile as she replied, “I took Barbara to the amusement park. Can you believe that, despite her age, she’d never been to one before? I thought it was about time she got to experience it—a little adventure to brighten her day.”<fn8967> Fresh chapters posted on FindN()vel</fn8967>

Lucas’ brow furrowed, a shadow of concern darkening his features. “The Wrights have really wrapped Barbara in a bubble, haven’t they? Honestly, it’s a wonder she hasn’t lost her mind because of that.”

Belinda felt resigned, her voice softening with a mix of empathy and reflection. “Yeah, when I first met Barbara, she seemed… how do I put it? Like a ghost wandering through life, numb and disconnected, as if nothing really mattered to her. Even after the surgery, there was no relief in her eyes, just cold indifference. It wasn’t until I promised her she could still run again that I saw a flicker of feeling break through.”
