If you ever dare hurt Belinda, the whole Wright family will make you wish you hadn’t, especially me!”


    She punctuated her warning by flexing her skinny arms, the gesture almostical.


    Lucas let out a heartyugh. Then his face turned serious. “No need to worry, Barbara. That’ll never happen,” he assured her, his voice steady and sincere.


    “You’d better mean it!” Barbara tossed him a skeptical nce, huffing dramatically before strutting off toward the house.


    Lucas turned to Belinda, his eyebrow arching yfully. “Looks like you’ve got quite the support now.”


    Belinda lifted her eyebrows, a smug smile curling at the corners of her lips. “Just remember that,” she said, her voice dripping with yful warning. “Let’s see if you’ve got the guts to mess with me again.”


    Lucas’ hands shot up in surrender, his words tumbling out in a hurried rush. “I wouldn’t even dream of it.”

    Lucas nodded. “Okay.” He then fired up the engine and pulled smoothly onto the road.

    Belinda’s eyes lit up with a soft smile as she replied, “I took Barbara to the amusement park. Can you believe that, despite her age, she’d never been to one before?
