?Chapter 1673:
Belinda believed she knew who that person was.
The thought flickered like a candle in a drafty room, but it was only a hunch—too fragile to voice aloud. Sharing such spection with Barbara would be reckless.
“Maybe,” Belinda murmured.
Barbara’s words had struck a hidden chord deep within her. She, too, harbored a quiet belief that Elwood had once loved someone fiercely, a me that had burned bright before guttering out. And she believed that someone was Car.
Yet, for reasons shrouded in mystery, his path had veered from Car’s. One had forged ahead, binding their life to another, while the other lingered in a haze of solitude, losing precious memories. Perhaps life could be unexpectedly cruel for some.
As their conversation meandered, Barbara leaned forward, her eyes glinting with mischief.
“Belinda, spill it. What do you see in Lucas?” She pursed her lips, brow furrowed in confusion. “He’s got the looks, sure, and the money, but… that’s it, right?”
Belinda’sughter bubbled up, light and unguarded. “Barbara, those two things alone? They’re enough to have half the women in town tripping over themselves to get to him.”
Barbara tilted her head. “That’s other women, not you. You’re different.” Her voice softened, but her gaze sharpened. “Lucas always wears that icy scowl, like he’s above everyone. Have you ever thought about… I don’t know, finding someone new?”
She propped her chin on her hand, watching Belinda. “I just think Lucas isn’t good enough for you!”
A warmth spread through Belinda’s chest, tinged with a touch of resignation.
She said, “You know, you’re the first to say Lucas isn’t good enough for me. Everyone else acts like I hit the jackpot just by standing next to him.”
Barbara snorted, waving a dismissive hand. “That’s what they think. To me, you’re a star—gorgeous, smart, and kind. Whoever ends up with you? They’re the lucky one.”
Belinda’s heart swelled at the words, her smile softening.
Barbara’s admiration shone in her wide, earnest eyes, and for a moment, Belinda felt truly happy.
Still, she said, “Thank you, Barbara, for thinking so highly of me. But find someone new? That’s never crossed my mind. Lucas is… he’s everything to me. He burst into my life like aet, and I’ve been chasing that light ever since. I love him, truly. He’s the one for me. And he treats me well. We’re happy—really happy.”<fnf435> Fresh chapters posted on Find[?]ovel</fnf435>
As she spoke, Belinda’s face glowed with joy. Her words carried the weight of truth, each syble a testament to the bond she cherished.
